Thanks for the reply. I looked up lash eggs. I can't find any that really match the description of what she produced, but the symptoms seem like it could be salpingitis.
I gave her an Epsom salt soak and gently massaged her abdomen, but I didn't feel an egg. I gave her a dose of amoxicillan, but...
She seems lethargic this morning and doesn't want to eat. She's walking around, but slowly. Her abdomen feels swollen. I guess I'll treat her like she's egg bound and go from there.
I should add i feed them purina layena (spelling?) Crumbles mixed with ~1/4 local feed mill layer feed. They have oyster shells in a dish, but the hen in question has scissor beak, and I don't think she can pick them up.
My hen, Aayla, had stopped laying after getting overly picked on by another hen. She had pecked out all of her feathers in her bottom (the bully has since been rehomed). About a week and a half ago, I found one of her eggs outside of the nester, and it had been crushed. I thought perhaps it...
I love this, thanks! I've been busy in my garden with the start of the spring growing season! My girls have been enjoying pecking through the weeds and spent cool weather crops. Hope everyone else is having a great year so far!
Hi all! I pulled my eggs out to candle on day 14 (Sunday evening), and didn't notice until just now I didn't plug back in the automatic turner (you have to unplug it to fully remove the lid). How bad is this? What should I expect?
*I should specify these are chicken eggs
I've seen people say Ameraucana's are hard to tell early one, but if anyone has any guesses, I'd love to hear them!
I'm pretty sure Gemini is a cockerel. He has been the largest since they hatched, and his voice is lower than the others. His comb started turning red last week, and is starting...
I have some baby food from by rabbit's emergency kit that's going to expire soon.
It's Gerber Naturals, apple, zucchini, and peach.
INGREDIENTS: APPLES, ZUCCHINI, PEACHES, LEMON JUICE CONCENTRATE, VITAMIN C (ASCORBIC ACID).
Would it be alright to mix a little in with some of their starter...
Thanks, that's what I figured. The first incubator was a cheap one I bought off of Amazon, and I had a horrible time keeping the temperature consistent. I let it run for a few days before putting eggs in, and it seemed fine, but then it just progressively got more and more inaccurate. I had...
This is my first time incubating eggs. I had some trouble with my first incubator, and had to buy another on day 4. I quickly candled them while I was transferring them, and this one definitely had growth and was moving. It's now day 9, and I candled them again to find this one like this. It's...
