Well this was before my upgrade. Homemade curtains by someone who doesn't know how to sew (me!)! :lau The chickens were getting all tangled in the curtains. They were coming off the hooks. They were a mess. I started having to go outside and put a cardboard barrier in front to keep the nesting...
I have 2 treadle feeders. A Grandpa's Feeder and a Rent A Coop feeder. When they get low on food and are mostly just dust, I turn the feeder upside down and shake it to dump it out. I also step on the step and blow it out with a lawn blower. Then wipe down to clean.
Is the smell coming from her mouth? If so it could be sour crop you're smelling. You'll need to check her crop 1st thing in the morning to ne sire its completely empty and flat before she eats or drinks to rule out a crop issue.
We just got some chicken curtains for our coop. Wanted to share pics because they turned out so cute!
Two for the windows to block out sun. And a matching smaller scale print for the nest boxes. The curtains have completed eliminated any chasing, bullying, fussing, piling in. If you don't...
Since this is a mug thread...have you all heard of bone china? That's what this mug is made from. It's china made partially of animal bone ash. Makes the pieces more white, translucent, and strong for its thinness. Although drinking from a bone mug is a little creepy.
Sitting here working in my office on a rainy day. If you look closely you can see my crazy SS who loves the rain. Good thing because we live in Seattle!
Oh wow I just posted about something very similar on my girl!

Does it look the same as yours?
Fortunately my little girl hasn't had any other issues. I initially thought it could be bumblefoot but didn't find any examples that looked like it. So I've just been cleaning and watching.
But I'm sorry to hear about your chicken and her/his tumor.
Yeah it's so bizarre I've been trying to do research on it but it's hard to describe and google haha.
But your response makes me feel better. Hopefully it's nothing I plan to keep an eye on it though.
I noticed mild bumblefoot on my 1 yr old Ameraucana and started treating it and it's now almost healed.
While initially soaking her I noticed she has a very odd looking growth/formation on her other foot. I don't think it's bumblefoot and doesn't appear to be a sore or infection. Her footpad...
Ok thank you. I've read that there is sometimes no kernel if the infection is caught early. Have you seen that that's the case sometimes? I hate cutting her up to find nothing...
