I’m looking forward to the new place ;)
Spring clean is always terrible
I clean my coop daily so it’s never bad but the indoor / outdoor feed area I do twice a year
Today was the day for that
Oh my word it was awful 😞
Snow couldn’t get in but frost from waters abd ice ect melted and caused...
Germ is fully healed. His beak will never be perfect but the wounds healed and they don’t affect him from daily life
I’m very excited for my acreage
I still have my emu eggs in the bator at day 41. I had bought them 2 days before I saw the add to rescue the other two
Hopefully I get some to...
I haven’t updated in a long time
So much has happened lately we bought an acreage with 16 acres
We have the keys and have slowly been moving in but it’s a 3 hour drive
I had rescued 2 little emu babies and after my vet and massage guy tried all we could to save them when the growth spurt...
I leave mine with my daughter
I do feel guilty as I know she will do good but not like mom does
I also bring treats for the wild ducks at the lake as I miss seeing mine
Little different after 48 hours
It’s very easy to candle the egg above the air cell at that point
I can tell when they are ready to be helped without having to slowly open looking for veins
When ready you can see through the egg and only see baby
I don’t recommend opening eggs like that when assisting
I make a tiny pin hole and leave them be for 48 hours
Naturally they don’t make big holes
They make a crack and stay like that till zip. All they need is some air to get in but not big enough we can see in
I would keep that membrane...
Baby is a little miracle
This one will need a very special name :)
This thread will help others that may come into a similar situation
There is always hope ;)
You need to give yourself a high five as well
Yoy stayed calm and helped baby to be able to hatch !
If those veins are not red but more of a very pale pink to clear then he is very close or ready
The egg being so easy to see through is the sign I use along with veins looking drained
Maybe wet the membrane with coconut oil and see how the veins look if they look drained in and out then you...
It’s such a hard call
It will keep that membrane moist but plastic wrap can be dangerous as well You have come this far with him I want him to make it
Maybe make the plastic wrap hole bigger
Just so it can’t go over his face at all
I still see red veins
So he has a bit to go
But has made progress as the egg is more clear ti see in
Once those red veins go he will be ready
Check in 6 -8 hours
