Worm or stripped feather or hair?

Ok. Found some tiny Live worms in my broody hens poop a week ago. Immediately started treating with some natural stuff I have on hand while I researched my chemical options (don’t come at me about the natural stuff). Since then, I haven’t seen any more worms in her poop despite watching like a...

    Fecal ID

I had a hen poop out worms once (posted about it the other day) - I started treating the whole flock and today we saw this in several fecal samples. Coincidence? Or eggs/dead worm pieces?

    Broody hens conflict

WWYD? I had a bantam Cochin go broody. A few days later, one of her sisters decided to join her. They sat on their eggs for 3+ weeks and hatched them all out together, living in a small broody box I made for them inside the coop. They got along beautifully and shared chicks no problem. Well a...

    Parasitic infection

So, I’m fairly certain some newer hens I bought a few months ago were infected with worms. 🤬 I didn’t realize it til now when we saw some in one’s poop. But it explains a few things I’ve noticed about them and how they differ health-wise from the rest of my flock. Ugh. I know this is normal...

    Incubator failure

Trying to compensate for a truly terrible incubator. I’ve babysat these eggs religiously the entire time, as they are from a rooster and several hens who we no longer have or lost to a predator. 💔 We are on day 20 and we lost one chick today, and I’m paranoid now. She had even gotten her beak...

    Day 19 pips?????

I had one egg pip this morning and two more this evening (of 12) and it’s Day 19. I’ve read that early hatching is a sign of too high of heat. Even though my temperature gauge inside has consistently shown a little UNDER 99.5…should I lower the temps at this point to keep the rest from hatching...

    Humidity percentage differences

Which number would you trust? This is during lockdown, so allowing it to be quite a bit higher than during the early incubation. The digital humidity matches the incubator number but those fluctuate quickly. Is the analog one more likely to be accurate?

    Inconsistency in temp/humidity

Hey there. First time hatch here. I have a secondary thermometer and humidity gauge to check consistency of the incubators built in gauges and they are quite off from each other. What do I do?? Which one do I rely on? I’m borrowing a neighbor’s new incubator as mine is on back order - it’s a...

New 12 week old bantam had a bloody stool

Hi there. I just acquired 3 little 12 week old bantam Cochin pullets from another backyard chicken owner. There is one that is TINY. Like almost half the size of the others. She was part of a flock of 7 that we got and shared with a friend so I didn’t notice right away or I would have asked the...

    Bantam Cochin ID, 8 weeks

Hey all! Back for more collective wisdom. Curious your thoughts on these little 8 week old bantam Cochins and the likely genders. I know for certain that the one second from the left is a roo, he has been crowing since he was 6 weeks old. 😂 He’s also way larger than the others. But I’m wondering...

    FBCM Gender ID

Hi there! I have a 6 week old French Black Copper Maran, and I'm trying to figure out whether they are likely a pullet or cockerel! It's the only one I got in my chick order so I don't have any others to compare to. Really hoping for a female in this case since we probably can't keep a...

    Greetings!

Hey everyone! I am not new to this forum (I've gained a lot of great information from it) but finally took the leap to join. I am new to the art of chicken keeping...in May we acquired 6 straight run chicks - 2 each of RIRs, Barred Rocks, and Ameraucanas. They are around 3 months old now, free...
