First off, I wm kicking myself for not noticing this sooner. Nugget, one of my 3 year old chickens, is very skinny. I had cut back on the treats and scratch because most of them were starting to become plump, but they are fed 20% flock raiser and I feed back eggshells daily for their calcium...
Hello all, I wanted to see what you would rate my two splash ameraucana (I refer to these two as twins). Neither have started laying and are 22.5 weeks old. I will put my opinion on both, but wanted some expert eyes. I tried to get a lot of photos, some are screenshots, but the odd lighting made...
I have two true bbs ameraucana pullets who hatched on mothers day making them 20 weeks this Sunday. Knowing this breed is slower in maturing, I wanted to know when your ameraucana pullets began to lay.
Two splash ameraucanas that I am confused on. My other splash ameraucana showed signs of being a cockerel at around 10/11 weeks, but these two have me stumped. They are just over 12 weeks.
Crossy (who was pooped on last night)
Scratch - more skittish so it's difficult getting photos...
Hello all, I have three 5 week cockerels that need to go to a new home. Can't have them. They are true blue wheaten and splash ameraucanas. FREE!
Will be available for pickup at 10 weeks at they will be large enough to introduce. If fhey aren't claimed they will be culled.
Hello all, just wanted to get a final opinion on Alfredo, who is 11 weeks on friday. I'm suspecting a boy at this point but more informed opinions would be nice.
I think it's normal, but want to make sure. These photos were from yesterday, and now the area is scabbed over. Should the little one be okay to go with her siblings and broody mama?

So, this chick was pipping through the membrane with vessels and began bleeding. On top of that, it was shrink wrapped. I went with my gut and assisted throughout the day, keeping the membrane moist. It just broke from the shell, but bled and has what I hope is the umbilical attached from the...
I couldn't fine my previous post so here is a new one. Alfredo, a true bbs ameraucana, is 5.5 weeks old in this photo. I hatched her so I am hopeful but not shooting on the little one being a pullet. Still early for sure but wanted to get opinions!
I tried my best to get photos but s/he was...
Hello all, 4 1/2 weeks old and going strong. Hatched so no idea on sex. I know it's early still but figured I would check in for opinions.
P.s. couldn't find my original post so I made a new one.
Bought hatching eggs from a local ameraucana breeder, but I am starting to think I was bamboozled. Legs look grey, but also green (but that may be me). Does little Alfredo look like a true bbs Ameraucana? Two weeks old, suspect may be a male but still TBD.
Hello all,
I hatched out what I was told is from a pure BBS Ameraucana, but want thoughts as these buggers tend to be mislabeled all of the time. Again, I hatched this one.
Second, is a russian orloff I bought. Looks to be right but I am not familiar with the breed. I've had ee with the same...
Hello, this bugger hatched out friday and just need a little help with determining if this is a splash (bbs) or blue wheaten? Breeder gave me eggs for both to hatch. I'm thinking splash due to the silver hue of the down instead of yellow.
The other egg (died before hatch) looked to have yellow...
My two eggs are set to hatch tomorrow, I checked on them last night and saw one active and healthy, internally pipping, and the other doing the same but in a lethargic manner. There was what looked to be a red "bloody" puddle on one side of the shell. This morning, checking on this 2nd eg, it...
Hello all, my current batch has had the temp at 101 - 101.6f for the first 8 days. The thermometer I had in there failed (I thought I had calibrated is properly and figured otherwise when I put my trusty meat thermometer in there and it read 101.6). I can only assume that the temps were...
I am looking for a mature bantam hen, preferably no older than 2 years. Desired breeds are Belgian D'Uccles, cochin/Pekin bantam, or silkie.
This is be a flock mate for the bantam hen I have. Unfortunately my little red cochin bantam has been bullied by her bigger flockmates and has to be...
