I had the same thing happen when I started raising Araucana... Because they don't have a tail bone, and lots of butt fluff, breeding is a challenge for these birds. It helps a whole lot of you trim the fluff immediately around the vent and any cushion/saddle feathers that may block the vent area.

Generally the hen determines the sex of the chicks, more so than the rooster. Did you also change your hens?

You say she had chipmunk stripes? Was her main body color a yellow or a brown?

Hello Genetics Gurus! I'm working on a line e+ wild type Araucana. I recently bought this pullet and had her shipped across country, but I can't tell if she's silver duckwing or golden duckwing. Thank you in advance, for any pointers! I also have chick pics for down comparisons, if needed... Some of them were what I call a broken chipmunk pattern, some were yellow, if that helps. I also have pics of the hens that laid these eggs, if that would help.
