Sitting a lot could be a sign of discomfort or pain. Chickens are subject to a number of leg joint issues. It is true that they have a distinctive walk due to the heavy feathering, but it shouldn't look awkward of "off." They should appear more comical than anything.

I'm curious, what would be the benefit in producing a sex linked Cochin, LF or Bantam? I've been breeding Cochins for quite some time now, I also show and belong to the only Cochin club in the US. I've never heard of or seen this in show quality Cochins. The Standard of Perfection does not...

I believe sex linked birds are generally an egg production bird. I've never heard of a sex linked Cochin. I don't believe there would be a benefit from it.

No, he hasn't lost interest, he is simply trying to survive. Once he is defeated and it sounds like a very severe defeat at that, as the loser he is no longer allowed to crow or breed hens. If he was to try, the winner would punish him again and possibly this time succeed in killing him. The...

This won't help if he is sterile, which is very possible. Frequently accompanies loss of interest.

Sorry if I sounded ???. Posting to the internet can be difficult since none of the tone and inflection are communicated along with the comment. I intended to simply shift my focus since this is a Cochin page, I was assuming Cochins were the breed you were interested in, so my feedback was aimed...

Her pattern is reasonably good and getting good penciling is very difficult. Are you breeding your Crele to her because he's what you have, or do you have a goal in mind. Where did you get a Crele Cochin? To my knowledge, they are only being bred as projects at this time. Your plan involves two...

Life is too short to feed and care for mean roosters, and it will only get worse. There are literally thousands of cocks and cockerels out there dying for a good home. Send him off one way or another and get a sweet male that is good with the hens AND your daughter.

First, they are not referred to a "giant," they are large fowl Cochins. There are a number of people breeding them and they can be purchased if you are persistent, do your homework and establish communication with the breeder that you decide to purchase from. Google LF Cochins in ____________...

It should be just fine. If it was the other way around it would be dangerous. You could end up with very large bantams or small large fow.

Since I haven't purchased chicks from a hatchery in years, I can only give you word of mouth information. A couple of people that I respect have ordered Cochin chicks from Webb Hatchery. I believe they are in Iowa. They have a web site, so just do a search for them and it will come up. I have...

Not dumb at all greyphase, considering how many discussions there are on breeding "this to that." The answer is yes. They are a recovering variety that nearly went extinct. There are a few breeders that are working on them, trying to restore them to their former status. You can find them at most...
