The same thing happened to me last year. All my tomato plants except one yellow pear were killed. Some of them were rare types I was trying. I had to buy some common tomato plants from TSC and Lowes. Hope yours' will survive.
Yeah, unfortunately, cancer is extremely common in laying hens. She doesn't seem to have any infection. If deworming not work, cancer would be the most likely reason.
You can try to give her stool softener docusate sodium. one pill a day for two days. When my hen has impacted crop and massaging didn't work, this usually would help her bowel movement and then got the blockage moving out of her digestion system.
You are luckier than my friend who bought 7 "sexed ameraucana pullets" at TSC and got 4 EE roos and 3 EE hens. That's why I would never get any chickens from TSC.
No, it's not Marek's. Marek's usually starts at an older age (at least 10 week old) and is very rare for younger chicks. You may want to treat for coccidiosis with Corid. Medicated chick feed doesn't have enough dosage to treat coccidiosis outbreak. Also check your feed to see if it's moldy...
The food is fine. I even don't wet it, since my girl doesn't like her chick feed wet. The crumbles will not clog her digestion system. No, you shouldn't stop giving her food/water. Food/water intake will help her digestion system moving.
Did you give her some probiotics? Also, it sounds odd, but I found some chickens has food allergies. If your chicken feed has soybean in it, it could cause food allergy.
I found Milky Spore is the best solution for Japanese beetles. When I moved in my last two houses, there were hundreds of Japanese beetles showed up the first year. After I apply Milky Spore, less than half amount showed up the next year and very few after that. I just caught these few by hands...
Continue to give her coconut/olive oil and massage 5~10 minutes several times a day. If there's no improvement, give her docusate sodium one gel or pill per day in addition to oil/massaging. Don't forget to give her probiotics everyday. Plain yogurt will work.
I used to love fish fertilizer until racoons fall in love with it too recently. They dug everything out including my young pear trees to looking for fish!
I have a hen with impact/sour crop on and off for a couple of months now. I followed azygous's article to treat her at first, and then I only isolate her with water and chick feed and give her some olive/ coconut oil and massage for 5~10 minutes a few times a day when her crop feel squishy at...
I hate Round-Up! Never knew farmers using it. I thought it's just for killing home weeds. I use 40% vinegar or hot water to kill weeds around my garden.
I'm waiting for my chicks growing up to see if my steele egger is really a bantam or not. I ordered two silkies but the white silkie failed to thrive, so my buff silkie needs a bantam friend. She does keep up with all other big girls so far though.
She might checked the order information that said you have a bantam. However, my order also said that I got a splash silkie, but I showed them a picture and they admitted it's a buff silkie.
I guess you got them from Meyer? I'm wondering about my Steel egger bantam is a standard size one too. I got her to be a friend to my silkie but she's almost twice the size and is bigger than my buckeye and australop! Plus, they sent me a Buff silkie instead of the splash silkie I ordered. :hmm
In my experience, neem oil works better than soap. If it still doesn't work, I will start Pyrethrin. It's still natural and biodegradable, but you need to spray it after sunset to avoid hurting bees.
