Thinking about new food from feed mill

I found a feed mill that has GMO free feed. I have tried ground feed in the past and the chickens appeared to waste a lot of it. How do other people feed ground food like this so there is less waste?

    INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Yes, he's a Coro. I had some a couple years ago and lost the hens to predators. I sold the roo to someone in IL. I wish I had them back. If I can find some Coro or lights this year I would get more.

Is anyone looking into getting certified to be an NPIP tester? I am looking into it but the antigen is pretty pricey, didn't know if anyone would want to split an order.

    NPIP Certification

Most everything listed in this thread pertains to P-T testing. Is the AI test the swab of the throat? If not, how is AI tested for?

J&M Poultry Processing in Indiana, Loved it!

You can take them in anything you want. You will need to unload the birds when you arrive. I suggest taking them in something somewhat small so you can catch them easily. I use a large dog crate to transport mine and it works great. I hope this helps.

Broody hatching eggs on sand floor

I have sand in my silkie pen and was wondering if it is ok to let a broody hatch eggs in there. I will build a nest box but it will be on the same level as the floor. In otherwords, it won't be raised like most nest boxes and will have a sand floor as well. Will the sand hurt the babies?

Prevention of COCCIDIOSIS and other poultry diseases in chicks~ ACV.

So I mixed ACV from the store with ACV with the mother about 1-1/2 weeks ago and it has been in my pantry. It is starting to get a milky colored film on top of it. Is that the mother or something else? It doesn't smell rancid.

    Coronation Sussex Roo

I lost my only Coronation hen the other night due to injury so I am getting rid of my roo. He was 1 year old in november. He is very protective of his girls and is always the first one out / last one in the coop. I would prefer local pickup.

Prevention of COCCIDIOSIS and other poultry diseases in chicks~ ACV.

After making ACV using Braggs (assuming it comes out right), can I put it in a container like a plastic tea pitcher and keep adding homemade ACV to it? I am curious about mixing different batches together.
