Yep currently a 4 so that gives me a little hope for tonight.
It's projected as a 3 for tonight AND tomorrow night. I'm thinking worse case scenario if I make it to Missouri and can't see it tonight, I could head to north Minnesota and likely see it there tomorrow night.... maybe, lol.
EDIT...
I was actually contemplating leaving at lunch today and driving north. I could probably get well up into Missouri by later tonight which would surely increase my odds. From what I'm seeing it's predicted as a G3 tonight and tomorrow though. I'm not sure if that is strong enough or not...
Congrats!
I can't believe I missed it. I checked outside twice then went to sleep, lol. I didn't really think I would be able to see it in south AL but I saw some pics today of it from south Florida. Depressing...
Good advice from AZ. The overall framing in the first image is good except for cutting off that one pedal. Backing up a couple more inches to include it would greatly improve the image.
I finished editing a couple more images today.
I was able to capture the diamond ring.....
I made my first attempt at an HDR image....
I made another composite comparing the 2023 annular eclipse to the 2024 total eclipse...
And I think this one is neat. I added the earth...

I started off with a basic dslr and a 55-250mm kit lens. You can actually achieve decent results with this gear. Now I never did because back then, I was taking single images and...
Thanks a lot, I appreciate it. Nice images too. The 2017 eclipse was the first one I tried to photograph. It's what got me interested in eclipses and solar imaging.
What I like about astrophotography is, there's always room for improvement. I can shoot the same object year after year and...
