Very sorry to hear about your loss. I’ve been there. I too let my birds out during the day and even though we have electric fencing and other protection sometimes it’s just not enough. I take some peace in the fact that they are much happier birds ranging outside than being locked up. Sending hugs
Hello :) Sounds like she would be a lovely addition to our flock. We are in Santa Clarita and can pick her up. We have been taking in lonely hens for a few years. We stay in contact with previous family if they wish :) Just send me a private message if you want further infos and pics! Cheers Maxi
Hi there :)
I would love to adopt Dina!! We’ve been looking for an older hen to join our little
flock of rescues since our oldest lead hen sadly had to cross the rainbow bridge a few months ago. Older hens are amazing. Right now we have 5 chickens and 5 ducks. They are all rescues and they get...
I thought brown Leghorn too but the comb is very small and the ear lobes are developing red. But who knows what else is in her ;) she’s very sweet and we adore her.
Hi there. My friends brought me an injured chicken back in May, maybe 4 weeks old at that point. He name is Fifi and she had everything bad in the book but she’s healthy now. I though for a while she’s a welsummer but she’s around 20 weeks now and still very leggy and I feel like a welsummer...
My coop is wood, it wasn’t sticky on that. Plastic or a non absorbent material would probably be a different story. But you never use the pure oil. It’s pretty diluted.

Also available in bigger sizes.
I got it off amazon. Not sure if I’m allowed to post links or what but if you search “organic neem bliss” you’ll find it. It’s not a lot of oil you use. I didn’t see any residue. I also used it to get the aphids off my rose buds. It was bad. Took care of 80% and beneficial insects and birds ate...
I had both types of mites, red and northern and always found them in the cracks as well. 🤷🏻♀️
I use organic neem bliss, it’s omri listed. I just follow the instructions on the back. Warm water and soap (I use biodegradable, acts as an emulsifier). And yes, I used the garden sprayer as well...
Hi :) I’m so happy it seems to be working *knockonwood! I would really just check at night if you see some crawling on walls or on the roosts. It’s just about keeping them from repopulating. By now you should know some of their favorite hiding places, like little crack etc. I always check out...
I would check tonight an hour after sundown if you see them come out of their hiding spots. I usually find them on the roosts or in areas I saw a mass colony before, think tight spaces. If you see any, even just a few, spray again. I did take out the shavings because I saw them underneath. They...
I would def repeat the application since the mites go through a laying cycle and you might have some hatching eggs starting the process over. As for the young new hens: I would just spray a little under the wings and butt area and keep them quarantined for a couple of weeks. That’s a good...
well, I would say as long as you have birds coming to your house it’s pretty clear you will have to deal with this every year ;) But as long as you check their coop after dark when it’s the season and act as soon as you see something it’s very manageable. Also the elector is expensive but I put...
