Here’s our only silkie rooster for comparison. since I’ve gotten out of breeding, I sold all my roosters except this splash. Im just absolutely stumped as to why she’s acting like such a rooster. It’s not necessarily the crowing…. But the behavior changes like flirty dancing with the other...
I’m 100% sure I’ve seen her lay. I have had silkies for going on 10 years. They are the only breed I’ve really had (I’ve dabbled in other breeds but silkies have been a constant from day 1 and was what I started with as my first chickens)
I’m VERY VERY confident in my ability to determine...
The black/blue is the hen. The splash is our silkie rooster. She has the body shape of a hen but she crows, stands like a rooster, and she’s been jumping/fussing at the other ladies like roosters do with eachother.
I have a silkie hen that I’ve seen lay eggs, but is now crowing. It’s acting dominant like a rooster, standing like a rooster, and crows like one.. I’ve had chickens around 9 years and I’ve never experienced this.
We have 2 roosters in the flock and I know she was a hen, but I swear even her...
It started having fits falling backwards and peeping frantically. It passed away about 10 mins ago :( it had one of those fits and then just never got back up.
Thank u I’ll try some raw egg yolk. What should I do about it not eating? Is there anything I even could do… I’ve had to hold it to get it to drink off my finger but even holding it, it still does the big head bobs. It drops its head and swings it back up peeping so loud. Even sleeping it lays...
I ordered 25 chicks online from a hatchery they arrived last Friday. I lost one yesterday… just started to lay around more than normal and died the same day. I had it, and one other seperated when it started acting weird.
It’s making a bobbing gasping motion. Peeps almost every time it...
They were so tiny when I got them I just thought maybe they had gotten a bad start or something. I wish I had caught this sooner. I just haven’t noticed any signs until now. They’ve all been active normal babies :(
Is it safe for ducks? I can seperate the ducks if I need to. I only have 2. Should I keep the babies all seperated from my larger hens? I’ve just started opening the baby coop so they can interact with the others probably for a week now. (They sleep and generally stay very close to their coop...
I have a chick that hatched April 20th it somehow got out of the baby pen and got stuck in the rain with 2 others. I brought them in immediately and the others seem okay but one now has super bloody poos and it’s every poo it has no injuries but could it be from getting too cold in the rain? I...
