Update for everyone! I reached out to Meyer, and they said that their sage gems can have pretty varied looks, but the two non-yellow chicks are consistent with common variations they can have.
Thank you! I may reach out to Meyer and ask if a mistake was made, because the "blue" medium gray one looks a lot like what a day old steele egger would look like, I wonder if they were not actually out and the wires got crossed somewhere.
I just bought the chicks from Meyer. I ordered a Sage Gem, Steele Egger, and a Splash Ameraucana. They ran out of Steele Eggers, so they substituted it with another sage gem. I figured alright I will tell who is who because two will look similar and the third will look very different... well all...
Our ducks have lived in as run within a run of the chicken run for a week, so that the chickens could see but not interact with them. Among the chickens there are 3 fully grown adults and 4 twelve week old teens. The ducks are all 7 weeks. We put everyone in the same run today and I think things...
Our ducks very quickly go through water, they can go through this waterer in just a couple of hours. Since they just moved out of their brooder to the run today, I put a five gallon bucket in their pen with poultry drinker cups in their pen as well today, in addition to that duck drinker I...
I have four chicks where the youngest is ~10 weeks and the oldest are ~12-13 weeks old. They have been spending about a month living besides the adults run, and I think I am going to try introductions this weekend. Assuming everything seems to go fine (which to my understanding means there might...
Thank you for all the advice, I'm really glad I decided to wait on culling for a couple of hours. If she does start to improve over the next week or so, would it be helpful to put the cat carrier out in the pen with everyone else and let her stay in it for a few more days? That way they can be...
Should I just keep her in that cat carrier? Will I be able to put her back in with the rest of the group with no issues if she's been gone for several days to a week? I actually just came to add another update that she is eating and drinking with no issues in the carrier.
She seemed to really bounce back yesterday. I don't think I saw her laying on the ground all day, the only way I could tell which one she was, was by saying who weighed much less than the others. I checked on her several times (luckily I only worked half a day yesterday so I could go out...
Surprisingly not really. We have been meaning to get kitchen no slip pads or something just to make it easier, but I've never seen anyone slip or stumble on it. Anytime you look out there someone is usually coming or going from the feeder and they don't seem to struggle.
Hello everyone! So I came to this post to grab the URL to the video I posted and realized I forgot to reply to a lot of people, I'm very sorry! While I am here I can give an update that I am not getting three eggs everyday! I'm assuming everyone else is also right on the verge of laying...
1. Went back out and looked again and it is definitely more prominent then the other girls.
2. https://www.chewy.com/bluebonnet-feeds-game-bird-breeder/dp/231966. They also get cracked corn as a treat, but it makes up way less than 10% of their diet.
3.I'm not sure hers specifically since there...
I just walked out to their pen to find this quail acting very strange. She was almost dragging herself on the ground. I thought maybe i spooked her while she was doing a sand bath, but she did not get up. I picked her up and looked her over, but did see any wounds or blood, but noticed she's...
I have 4 chicks that vary in age from 9-11ish weeks. When I bought my property, the previous owners had one of those prefab coops with a smaller fenced section attached to the coop, and then built an actual 12x12 covered run around that prefab coop/cheap fencing. So essentially there is a run...
Our ducklings are now about 23 days old (assuming they were mailed at exactly one day old). We'd like to start giving them some greens and other treats. I've always heard peas are a really big hit ducks. What are some things ducks this age can safely eat? In the same vein, how do we give them...
Thank you! We thought they might be getting a little too wet for that age. They were actually using a parmesan cheese container with a similar design, they will be going back to it for now!
