I don’t blame you. I’ve had a flawless customer experience with Mt Healthy twice, besides a surprise cockerel out of 9 sexed pullets. I would feel the same if I were in your shoes. You’re not even going to get all the birds you want in the end. It seems they should be more sorry than they are.
Cream legbar Easter egger mixes, and Olive Eggers for the feathered leg ones are my guess. Could also be black copper marans or midnight majesty marans.
If it were me, Id pick through and choose chicks I want (if there are ones you want) and beg others to take the rest.
I’m guessing mt healthy sends you a replacement if you want, if they’re making more red Orpingtons, they seem to do small batches
Mt healthy does send an extra, too. I only wanted 2 new chicks this year, but I ordered 3 from mt healthy and they sent an extra. My plan is to raise them together and sell the 2 I don’t want. I didn’t want to sell 1 lone pullet. They’re all adorable though, so it’s going to be hard choosing...
I’m excited to see which extra you get :) they do try to give all pullets if that’s what you ordered. I ordered 3 and got 4, 3 weeks ago and I think they’re all pullets. I was suspicious of my surprise cockerel from the beginning last year and almost completely sure by 3 weeks last time.
That’s basically our order from last year-almost exactly a year ago, except an Easter egger instead of austrolorp, they’re great hens! Our fifth chick is ended up being a rooster, but I’ve heard Easter eggers are harder to vent sex so hopefully you won’t have that problem.
I’ve used a heat lamp both times I got new chicks. I’ve had small batches both times and my brooder is indoors. They never want to stay under it as long as the directions say, they run around and return to it. Last night, they all slept outside of it at 3 weeks old, it was about 72 in my house...
Be prepared! I’ve ordered twice from them, once I got them on the suspected hatch date, once the day after. I didn’t get a shipping email either time, the post office called both times. The first time in the afternoon, the second first thing in the morning. They were sent to the bigger post...
I know it’s early, but just for fun- this is my EE from Mt Healthy. I only got 2 EE and can only keep one, but I’m hoping to keep this one because I love her poofy cheeks. Last year I had an EE that started getting red shoulders at 3 weeks, but I heard black and white EE get white splotches...
I bet your yellow is an EE and the other is an Olive Egger. They always send you extras of what you ordered. Your Olive Egger just takes after their BCM parent.
I’d love to see pics of your other EE’s. I just got 2 from Mt healthy, both chipmunk chicks. One has puffy cheeks and one doesn’t...
