not an expert either but I think her feet are not over feathered. the good thing she has no feathers on the middle toes. I had marans with over feathered feet and they looked a lot different.
2 different things.
the second post is talking about some bcm lines carrying wheaten bc of some intercrossing in the past. that's why many roos have a halo. we do not cull those birds because of that intercrossing as we got them from bcm.
you must check them early in the morning. when I went to check my bantam broody at 7 am she was trying to kill the previous night slipped chick. it was hatched by another broody who was sitting on more eggs. age difference was 3 days only.
@Chooks man is not someone that would come and go. there must be a serious reason for his absence. he disappeared in the middle of the hatching season.
crack her egg, peel off the membrane and check if shell is blue inside. if it is blue both outside and inside it means she has 2 copies of blue gene and will pass it to all her progeny. if it is white inside then she has just 1 copy of the blue gene and will pass it to some of her progeny.
