If you put your hand behind their feet and press against their ankle they'll step up and you can carry them like a parrot. I find that causes less panic than grasping them around the wings.
Of course I only do that inside the coop so that they don't jump off and get lost.
I offer oyster shell free choice all the time. I feed all-flock type feed because I have a mixed flock with juveniles and males so the ladies need calcium.
I also feed their eggshells back to them, dried and crushed.
My fig is about to bear its first real crop. I've been watching carefully since I know that figs go from ripe to rotten in no time flat.
The egg watch is always so exciting.
Anyone playing in the nests and kicking the bedding out?
