I have the same problem right now! I have 28 hens and am getting 1 decent BCM egg!! I was planning on bringing hatching eggs to sell to 4Hers and other BCM fanciers at our Fall Swap next weekend and now..... it's just not going to happen. I'll have a dozen IF I'm lucky!

Hi All! It's been quite a long time since I've been on but I just wanted to post a few pictures of one of my newer BCM boys. I need to get a good profile picture as the one I have makes him look like he has a short back with a high tail set but he doesn't. He still has a few feathers with a...

Quote: I'm no expert but their tailset doesn't look to standard. Looks like japanese or old english game tail. I personally wouldn't sell them as bantam BCMs until you have them to SOP otherwise you could start a breeding nightmare. JMO though.

Quote: Funny, the people over on the Wellie Forum are leaning towards them being Wellie Eggs - due to the Terra Cotta tone and lack of glossiness/sheen. Time will tell... Thanks, Steve Steve, I have two gals that lay a very dark egg; in fact, probably would be my 3rd & 4th darkes layers in...

Oh speaking of beautiful boys! Pink I was wondering if you need a Splash cockerel. I'm guessing not but since I got him from you I thought I'd offer first refusal. He's going to be GORGEOUS! I just have too many boys and if someone wants him I'd rather him not go to freezer camp as he's SO...

Speaking of combs! I'll have to take a picture and post of a cockerel I hatched out from Geebs. I call him Jaws because his comb was HUGE by three or four days. He looks like a shark compared to the others. He's the little stinker who's been crowing since 2-3weeks old!

Quote: I'm so sorry! That's seriously awful! I have a boy from that kind of stock that I might be able to spare. He's a little darker than I'd like him to be but he's from dark eggs and from a local who's very serious about his breeding. I can go and take a few pictures later. Might be able...

Quote: YES! That was my problem. On day 20 of my last Marans hatch, ALL 8 eggs were rocking hard. On day 23 all had died in the shell, except for the 2 that hatched...both roos! The high humidity seems to drown them in the shell with the excess water that builds up inside the shell membrane...

Quote: My boys started crowing at about 5 and half weeks. My girls started pinking up at 13 weeks as well. They are 15 weeks old now - HUGE - and the boys are mounting my older hens. Did I mention - HUGE? The pullets are hanging with the boys but still scream bloody murder if the boys try to...

I'm actually starting a 10 gallon fish tank of guppies specifically for the chickens. Someone recommended one guppy per bird per day. If it stayed warm in the winter I'd just stock our pond but I doubt they'd survive the freezes.
