Visiting local shows and even the summer fairs is a great way to find some local breeders. Still not all breeders show their birds.

The pictures are a bit fuzzy or the chickens look to be on the move in the pictures you posted. I have to say they look so much better than hatchery production lines. But I could not choose a best of the bunch or even point of their great qualities because on my computer the birds are a tad fuzzy.

The last 3 hatches of RIR were only because I could see that I had too many roosters. At that time I think I had maybe 5 clear female pullets. Right now after all of the extended hatching I still have less than 25 females from this year's hatch.

Same here. I want to grow them all out to pick the best but our feed bill is skyrocketing. I'm thinking of culling the youngest set or two but there would not be much value in processing them so I can't bring myself to do it yet.

Since you are their 4th owner, I'm thinking stress of new places might be delaying their laying. If you have some red raspberry bushes, try adding a few of the raspberry leaves to their food.
