    Barred bantam chickens

Unfortunately I can't seem to load pictures, but I got several barred bantams from the assorted bantam bin at TSC. Any idea what they could be? Old English Game birds? Spangled? They do look like Old English, just not any color I've had before. Was able to post picture as a reply.

    Any idea on breed

Six weeks old pullet from Hoover Hatchery from rare egg layer pack. Feathered legs. Could it be a salmon faverol?

    What breed is this?

Got this chick (probably 8 days old) and several others like it from a bin at TSC labeled bantams. It has black beak, legs and skin and five toes, but the legs don't appear feathered or doesn't have a topknot. Any ideas as to breed? They are in with other LF chicks the same age and they...

Chicks arriving at better post office

We've ordered chicks through the mail many times, and have two local post offices. Sometimes chicks come into one, sometimes into the other. The one with the same zip code is horrible. They don't answer their phone or call us when the chicks arrive. They have even misplaced them. The...

How many eggs for a broody and when?

This year instead of running the incubator I've decided to hatch with a broody so I don't have to brood the chicks. Sounds like a good plan but I have questions. It seems my large fowl don't go broody until the fall (and I have had two hatch eggs but only after I gave up trying to take them...

    Torpedo shaped eggs

Three of my hens who had taken off for molting and over the winter laid their first egg today. Due to the fact I have various mixes and breeds within my flock I know who the layers were, one marans and two olive eggers. One of the olive eggers is a daughter of the marans. All three eggs were...

    Your opinions please

Every year I add a few birds to my flock, usually replacement birds by hatching my own. I like a colorful egg basket and have all colors of eggs, blue, green, olive, speckled terra cotta and olive, dark and white. Each year my project has been adding a new color or hybrid, something I love...

    Khaki Campbell egg size

I've had pekins and muscovies and I remember their eggs as being very large. I was a child then, and maybe I'm getting them confused with the goose eggs we had, too. Now we have khaki campbells and their eggs are smaller, not as large as the chicken eggs we get. Is this because they...

Easter egger, olive egger and Production blue cockerels

I realize cockerels are a dime a dozen, maybe even less but I had some hatching projects going on this spring and have some nice Easter eggers, and olive eggers and I was experimenting with a production blue layer (Some of the hatcheries are experimenting with this and selling the pullet chicks...

    Questions on dwarf goats

Can anyone tell me if foxes are a threat to Dwarf goats (if they are fenced in?) My husband is interested. I know we have to protect our chickens from foxes but would they be interested in dwarf goats?

MPC Super blue egg layer eggs

Has anyone gotten the super blue egg layer eggs from MPC? I've been thinking about them and wonder if they differ from Easter egger egg colors or cream legbar blue eggs. Are they a true blue or a robin's egg blue?

What caused this? Predator or not?

Our chicken coop which is locked up every night with doors shut opens into large covered runs. We can open the run doors and they can free range within a fenced in area, lots of trees and shrubs. A few days ago I noticed a dug area inside one of the runs and thought the chickens were...

    Intensity of olive egg coloration

I've been getting olive eggs for two and a half months now and the pullets are excellent layers barely taking a day off. I'm wondering if this is a reason for the following. When I first started getting the olive eggs their color was fantastic, a really dark olive green but now they seem to...

sexng silver duckwing Old English game bantams

I have five nine day old Old English game bantams that should be silver duckwings. They're just starting to get a few feathers and what I see on the wings are a greyish tan. Any clues on the sex yet from this?

    Questions on incubating bantam eggs

For the first time I'm trying to hatch bantam eggs and have a few questions. I'm using a Brinsea Octagon Advance. For large fowl eggs, per the instructions, after day 8 until lockdown I shut the incubator off every day for a period of from a half hour to two hours, usually an hour. Do you...

    Silver Duckwing Cockerel

Would be interested in a young silver duckwing OEG bantam cockerel within driving distance of the Lehigh Valley. Nice temperament. (Sorry, put zero's in only because I wasn't sure how to do the price and it wouldn't take words. Let me know what you have and price, please.)

Old English game bantam egg color?

I've read in several places that old English game bantams lay white eggs. My LF lay all color eggs but none white. My OEGB have just started laying and I'm getting beautiful tiny eggs of what I would call light cream or pale rose (beautiful tints of off white), but none the color of white...

    Gamebird feed OK for chicks?

Our local feed store carries starter, grower, all flock, and layer food for chickens. I have the younger chicks (5 weeks to 4 months old) on grower feed. I went in to buy feed for them last week and the store was out of grower. After looking at the different alternatives I realized the game...

    Olive egger cockerel

I have a young, a little over three months old, olive egger cockerel, (cream legbar X black copper marans) that I would like to find a home for. He's a handsome boy and developing the copper feathering on his neck. I'm in the Lehigh Valley, PA, but travel into Berks County most weeks so...

    What bantam breeds?

These are 4.5 week old Tractor Supply assorted bantams. Any ideas on breeds? The light one in the back has big clod hopper feathered feet grey colored. Light brahma or cochin maybe?
