He's only the 2nd goat I've ever introduced. My first goat - Annie...is the nursing doe. When I bought her, I only had the buck and his sister (who is sterile). They both accepted her pretty easily... And they accepted her babies very easily both times she has given birth.
I feel pretty good...
Looking for some advice...
In my herd, I have 1 ND buck who has a pen all to himself which is right next to the girl pen...
In the girl pen, I have:
1 ND Matriarch (likely the sister of my buck). No idea on her age but I'm guessing 5-6 yrs old. She is the alpha in the pen.
One 2-yr old ND...
Busy day...
Needed to restock my yearly hay supply. Wanted to pick it up last weekend but it was supposed to rain so I didn't. Ended up not raining... 😑 Decided to go this weekend since it wasn't supposed to rain. It was a torrential downpour on the way back.
I hate the weatherman. 🤬
Did...
Just blanched some cauliflower and broccoli to put in the FD. They were kinda big pieces so I had to really squish them down to get the trays in... Hoping that doesn't turn into an unexpected problem
I've got a load of sweet peppers (red, orange, yellow) in right now...
I still have apples, broccoli, cauliflower, zucchini, asparagus, and eggs to do...
I've got an easy 4 days of FD bliss ahead of me still... 😂
I don't know... There are times I've literally had to hold myself back from yanking my molars our with pliers or stab my gums with a knife because the itch/ache is so bad.... 😂
When getting my wisdom teeth removed as a teen, the dentist punctured into my sinus cavity... Or maybe the roots of my wisdom teeth were growing into my sinus cavity. Can't remember exactly... But either way, whenever I get a cold or allergies or anything that causes pressure and excess mucus in...
I woke up this morning with my molars itching... Weird symptom, I know... 😂 But it's ALWAYS a precursor to a bad allergy day. I started loading up on meds for the day before doing anything else.
Speaking of tomatoes.... Last year I grew an enormous monster (see below). I weighed nearly 2 lbs! I think it was from a variety called Backa. I'm growing that variety again this year, but I've been watching another potential monster in this year's crop. It's from a variety called Olena...
Another lesson learned, along with a save. 😂
The seasoned cucumber chips finished this morning. I was in a rush to feed animals so I opened the door to the FD intending to take out the cucumbers but got distracted and walked away.
An hour and a half later, I remembered... By this time, the FD...
We handled all 5 to give them a little bit of sugar water and electrolytes since they've been 5 days without momma. None of them smelled even the slightest bit musky. But when we took the last 2 to the rehab, one of the babies was inconsolable. He cried the entire 30 minute ride there and kept...
I have three 55-gallon drums that I use as vertical strawberry beds. I'm getting a nice little mess (10ish?) of strawberries very few days. Not enough to really do anything with except snack on. I did FD some along with the store bought strawberries.
Anyway, today I was eating some of the Mara...
My DH tried a FD strawberry yesterday and said it tasted like strawberry Styrofoam. 😂😂😂 I imagine the pumpkin pie being the same?
But how do you get a whole pie in the FD?
On the potato drama...
Here's before:
Here's after: 😔
Hoping it grows back...
On a positive note, the dahlias in my memorial bed are starting to bloom. So pretty... Although they've completely drowned out the glads and daylilies
Well, I might have killed my potatoes... 👉👈
I covered them with insect netting in hopes of preventing potato bugs. They were doing pretty great as seen here.
Then we got 16" of rain combined with an onslaught of aphids & thrips & other pests that I didn't catch because I didn't see them...
