All black barred rock at 8 weeks.

I'm sorry to hear that. I understand how hard that can be. We had 2 hens over a period of time die from egg bound too. What I have observed from them is that they somehow got dehydrated. I thought that was odd since there is always water out there. I have learned that sometimes other chickens...

Barred rock Plymouth Rock gender question

They both look female to me. I have had barred rock cockerels and they have usually had a red comb and wattles by 8 weeks old. So, as they said above, if blue is a male, definately a slow maturing one. I am leaning more toward, both pullets. A light colored pullet and a usual dark pullet.

Pure Barred Rocks or australorp cross?

@MysteryChicken is right. We have a heritage barred rock rooster and crossed it with a black australorp hen. This pullet and cockerel were born on March 5th and these crosses both have the white shanks (skin). A neat thing about these crosses is that they are blue barred or black barred. Cream...

So what is the level I need to use since other chicks are trying to hatch and I don't want any shrink wrap?

My Little Giant styrofoam incubator never dries off the chicks

I do not like the Little Giant Incubator. It is still air, styrofoam and has no egg turner. The bare bones $50 one I bought at Russell Feed. I pretty much have a 100% hatch rate. Unfortunately, every single time, the chicks remain soaked after hatch and never dry off not even a little. The last...

What are the outcomes of the following barnyard mixes?

Thank you. Yes the Easter Egger lays all light blue, light greenish blue, and light green and olive eggs. So, I agree she might be a mix of some kind. The farm I bought her from told me that both her dad and mom are americaunas, so the seller told me the easter egger is pure americauna. From...
