    EE pattern at 3 weeks?

Thought I’d update, for anyone curious to watch her growth. Her cute little cheek feathers are coming in white this week. Very pleasantly surprised by her coloring. I really thought from her first wing feathers that she’d be mostly black and maybe a little white. Teaches me to jump to...

    First time broody?

She got kicked out of being broody just by tossing her out of the nest box a few times a day, but then my red Orpington went broody and it took 5 days to break her. Finally had to lock her out of the coop on a cold, rainy day. She had shelter and she’s very big and feathered. She could still see...

    First time broody?

So, my 11 month old lavender Orpington was concerning me because she was laying soft shelled eggs. I then haven’t gotten another egg from her in over a week. She goes in the nesting box, but doesn’t seem to stay there longer than her sisters. I tried to move her yesterday and she screeched at...

    Need help sexing!

If I’m honest, that’s how my surprise cockeral started at 3 weeks. However, I also read that in black and white ones, it’s white that starts on the shoulder, and that happened to me this year, but she ended up evening out her pattern by 5 weeks. So it could go either way. That is awfully wide...

    Is my coop too small?

Curious how your two story coop is going, we are thinking of expanding our coop, but can only really build down.

    EE pattern at 3 weeks?

I’m feeling more confident that she’s likely a pullet, her pattern is evening out a lot this week. She’s so pretty. Almost 5 weeks. Do tell me if you think I’m missing something.

Gender? 9wk old EEs/ Americanas TS

Someone at the time said she might be a Wyondotte mix, and they pink up early.

I really think that’s special and unusual at that age. I’m not sure you’d be able to repeat it.

Gender? 9wk old EEs/ Americanas TS

I had an Easter egger this color and she got red early-at 6 weeks, but was a she, and lays a pretty sage green egg.

    Chicks and personality

None of mine were overly friendly as chicks, I have 3 Orpingtons, 3 Easter eggers, and 2 Marans. My first group was Orpingtons and Easter eggers, and I don’t think they liked me until they were laying. Now they follow me everywhere and will let me pick them up, besides the Easter egger- but...

My new chicks are finally here, with a bit of mystery.

What did she end up being? I think she’s a jersey giant, from the pics

Does everyone stress ordering chicks the first time 😱

When do you get your makeup order? Are you happy with the surprise chicks you kept? They’re adorable

    How is she looking now?

Noir Maran, 2 weeks barring on shoulders?

No more barring, you were all right. My new concern is at 4 weeks old, the smallest one is about half the size of her sister now, or either of the other chicks and is way behind in feather development. She’s a feisty little thing and seems to hold her own just fine. Is she a runt? Is she going...

What breed is this feather-footed chick?

A lot of Olive Eggers have feathered feet because they’re often marans mixes.

What breed is this feather-footed chick?

    Possibly an olive egger?

    Need help sexing!

Your buff could really go either way. I have a sexed link chick that I know is a girl and her tail is still smaller than everyone else’s at 4 weeks. But I’d be suspicious with the tail and behavior, too.
