    Complicated Dynamic (Aren't they all?)

I have a similar situation going on, but my newer additions are one brood of 4 ten-week-old pullets and then a 7 week old twosome of a pullet and surprise cockerel. i’m worried about the latter pullet, once the roo is growing. they really keep to themselves and i’m fearful that she’ll end up...

    Please help!! Red faces

She was said to be a Black Star but I’m not sure how accurate the breeding was, they all wound up looking a little different. This is what she looks like now-

    Cockerel and pullet bonded pair?

I have two 7 week old EEs, one pullet and one cockerel. Obviously, they were in the brooder together, but they are absolutely inseparable. Neither goes anywhere without the other and they rarely interact with the older birds (some 10 week olds and some 1 year olds). My question is, how normal is...

    Two mystery chooks

Alrighty, I’ve got two babes here, the speckled Americana I’m really thinking is a roo based on leg size and redness of comb (~7wks old) The buff (~9-10wks old) had some troubles with tail feathers growing in that were still working on. But it’s face is MUCH more red than the other buff, whose...

Pullet feather problems - can I help?

I have two month old pullets, all have been fully feathered for several weeks. All except for this one. We just got through treating a nasty scab on her back from her picking at herself (hence the purple stain, thanks Blu-Kote). Now her feathers are finally coming in there, but they look…...

    Marek’s Disease is the Worst

My girl started stumbling Thursday night and made it to this morning with only some worse stumbling/leg collapse. I’ve seen most places that Marek’s usually progresses over 24-72 hours. None of the others are showing symptoms that I can tell. I’m taking this as a good sign?

    Marek’s Disease is the Worst

I took our girl to the vet and the diagnosis was Marek’s, they put her down. I guess all we can do is hope for the rest of the flock and keep an eye out for symptoms? Silly question- is it strictly an avian disease or are other pets at any risk?

    Mushrooms causing neurological issues?

I’ve been posting on here about my chicken that is having balance and coordination issues, falling down. I just was in her favorite foraging area and found this mushroom that appears to have been nibbled on. Does anyone know anything about mushrooms and if this could have caused it? She’s been...
