Nut hatched just what JAADAM says. when in doubt look to how God did it. Sounds to simple to be true but look at nature it thrives all on its own. Normally when it does not do well its because of something man has done, pollution, invasive species, some how basically nocking the system out of wack.
I am saving my egg shells also, mix with vinegar and make liquid calcium. Plants can use right away. The shell just placed on garden takes years to break down. Which is ok but gives you nothing today. I do a combo of both.
You are not wrong if you are growing in a modern or western way. The Modern Mono system grows huge fields all in wheat or corn or what ever, for the commercial farmer that is kind of required. Also, due to chemical fertilizers they kill a lot of the little micro organisms. They die off due to...
Do any of you use the JAADAM system for gardening? I am trying it this year for the 1st time. It uses all home made fertilizers and is 100% organic. The Korean Gentleman who invented it says to basically look to God to see how he does his farming. He don't use man made fertilizers, nor till or...
First I hope this is in the right spot. Has anyone made this cross and what was the egg production like? Would it be as good as a normal black sexlink?
Other crosses I have thought about is buff rock x buff orpington quite possibly a bird that would breed true for color.
Buff rock x barred...
My grandmother who raised chickens by the 100s. Always said " A whistling women and a crowing hen always comes to some bad end!" She instantly chopped its head off and it was dinner. Lol And yes she had roosters too. I guess in her day women were not to whistle and hens did not crow. A simple...
If you cross a white Orphington with say a New Hampshire Rooster or a Buff Rock Rooster will you get red sex links? I just can't find if the white Orphington hen will work or not. Just need to know if they will produce sex links.
Skeeter, I just ordered 10 buff and 5 barred from them today. So I will see, mostly want broody to help hatching my New Hampshire broilers I also ordered today from Freedom Ranger and a few Sassos to possibly cross with New Hamps since Murray McMurry will not have Delaware Broilers this year. Of...
Just tried to order some. They will not have any this year for sure. Their barn with them got avian flu and they are trying to rebuild their flock. So non to be had this year.
I have owned 100's of Barred Rocks. Never had any go broody. However the Buffs are suppose to be broody. I am wondering if that has been someone's else's experience. Also how well they lay and egg size. IF ANYONE CAN GIVE ME THIER EXPERIENCE WITH BUFFS I WOULD BE GREATFUL.
The Buffs are suppose to go broody Murray McMurray is one of the few hatcheries who offers them. I have owned lots of barred rocks. But have never seen a Buff was hoping someone on here had some knowledge. When I was healthy I normally kept 50 or so laying hens.
Has anyone ever had any of these birds? If so what is your thoughts on them. Where they broody? Good egg layers? If so what size eggs do they lay? Please let me know your experiences and where you purchased your birds at. Only a couple hatcheries offer these birds but I am always a little wary...
Cackle Hatchery advertises these birds saying they are a Rhode Island Strain and are chosen as the darkest to be Cherry Eggers. Has anyone raised or had Cherry Eggers? Especially from Cackle Hatchery? If so what was or is your opinion on these birds, lay rate, temperament egg size?
Any and all...
Ok what I was asking and must not have made it very clear was has anyone ever crossed to different breeds of the slower growing meat birds. Such as a Kosher King rooster over a Freedom Ranger Hen? If you did this do you think you would get more off spring that were meaty and grew well. I have...
