Yes, interesting. Cutie that it is! I thought it was a bit dark for splash. I'm curious to watch it grow!
I thought I had a hen laying soft shell eggs, kept finding egg goo in the nest. Came in one day to find a HUGE rat snake all curled up in the nest box.
He could not quite swallow the eggs...
All are cuties! :love
Curious. In the last pic, the chick to the left, standing, looking at the camera...it's a splash? Isn't it's color a bit different?
Hope you get that egg thief! Any suspicions?
I have a 9yr old hen named Dixie. She doesn't get around all that good so sometimes she gets to come inside the house. She is so easy to handle and has her own little apartment (large bin). She was always a great broody and raised lots of chicks. Never gave me any slack about handling them...

Sorry Zinnia is having a problem. Do you think it possible she has an eye (cornea) infection? You could try Terramycin Eye Ointment or plain Neosporin in the eyes 2 times per day for a few days to see if it helps. There are many things that can cause gray/foggy eyes in chickens but bacterial...
Interesting observation. Makes me wonder too.
I have not seen enough splash patterned birds to know. I'm sure you will continue to watch this. Please let us know how this goes.
