I cut off its head and give it to the dogs. It's the easiest thing at that point.

No, I have the kill cone screwed about 4' off the ground to a telephone pole that's about 10" across. The bird's head ends up about 3 feet off the ground so I'm firing at a horizontal/ever-so-slightly downward angle into the pole. I've been doing this for close to 5 years and there's probably a...

Put it in a kill cone, loop a string around its neck and pull it straight to minimize movement, put the barrel as close to the top of the head just behind the axis of the eyes, and squeeze the trigger. After that, I use a sharp knife to sever the arteries or simply cut off the head. The bird...

I'd use a youth-sized .22 training rifle like the Rascal or Cricket; they're inexpensive and, as single-shot rifles where you load the cartridge into the chamber by hand, it makes it somewhat safer because you can't end up with another cartridge in the chamber unless you put it there. Meaning...

That's good eats right there! I hunted a guy's land and he gave me a photo lineup of deer I wasn't allowed to kill; all huge old bucks. When I showed up at the gate with a massive, fat-bodied four point with his ugly little rack held too far forward and too close together, the guy said I "didn't...

The only latitude I'll allow is if you refer to your side-by-side double barrel shotgun as "my boom stick!"

Ugh. Messy memories. I've never named anything other than my son and a succession of dogs. I was "given" an old, almost worn out long haired mutt decades ago that came with the name Baby but she became Kozzie upon receipt.

There's a mystique surrounding Desert Eagles due to being featured in movies. I bought one from a guy who hated his. It had the most beautiful bluing I've ever seen in person. It was in .44 Magnum and I, too, soon learned to hate it. It was uselessly heavy and I couldn't reach the safety with my...

The woman I dated before I married my wife instilled a flinch that took me years to overcome, too. My ugliest recoiling pistol is an AMT Backup .45acp. It is small, light and leaves my pinky without a partner to the dance. It also has the heaviest trigger I've encountered in a 1911-ish pistol...

The shield EZ-9 is also very easy to chamber a round but, if the recoil of a 9mm is too unpleasant, you won't practice.

Do you reload and, if so, have you worked up a 7.62x51 load that's optimized for a short barrel? That's gotta throw a real fireball! I had a buddy in high school that ran over his Mosin Nagant and cut it off at the end, ending up with a 16 inch-ish barrel. Maybe less. With the 7.62x54R ammo, it...

I have an FAL and a PTR-91. If shtf and I needed to choose one to carry a field, I'd probably stay home. The PTR might be a few ounces lighter due to its poly receiver but the poly receiver would put it below the FAL for durability reasons. Either way, it's a full fledged 10 pound battle rifle...

I've got one and love it for teaching folks who aren't familiar with the AR-15 the basics of operation without blowing through $100 in ammo or frightening them off. I also run it in an AR with a binary trigger just for giggles. Get as many extra mags as you can afford and an Uplula mag loader.

A little time with a blow dryer on "high" and a hot glue gun and you'd be back in bidness posthaste. You could even add room for a fourth finger groove or another band of stippling and call it a Gen VI.

That's not a Glock in a Croc; it's a Shield in a shoe. And the shirt the guy's wearing has two-hole buttons; the Gen V shirt in his hands has four-hole buttons, you thankless and unappreciative heathen. It's the LATEST GENERATION. ITS THE EPITOME OF GLOCK PERFECTION. J/K, Glocks are great...

I've done that at one garage sale. My best was 19 guns plus two black powder revolvers from a widow who called me for help in turning her late husband's collection into the police for destruction. Most were WWII military and war trophies. Thank God I was able to convince her to sell them to me...
