Anybody know why all of a sudden I am not getting post from any of the groups? Been getting them every day since I started and this last week zip have come through.
I logged off and back on in case that was the problem but still nothing.
Suggestions?
I have always separate the males and females as soon as I can. The less the boys know about the girls the better in my book. Once they start that breeding act they will try to with any thing.
Just for the heck of it I have made several crosses with different red factor birds. Barnevelder on Columbian Wyandaotte, Welsummer on Columbian Wyandotte, and a SC RIR on commercial females. The first two were great sex-linked birds but WOW RIR on the commercial birds it darkened up the...
I do the same for feed...Game Bird Breeder Oct-May/June then switch to lay pellets of 16%. Age plays a part but usually by 9-10 months the males should be ready for the pen and by 12 months good to go.
Not only the balancing act of a young male it is also the female submitting correctly. If you up your protein that might help. I know that in one breed I have I have to use a higher protein to get good fertility.
I love pictures of older farms and their chicken houses. Sometime I think I was born in the wrong era. 1900-1940 the chicken population and breeds were going gang busters.
I noticed you had a couple of Columbian looking birds in the back ground of the first picture. Are they Columbian Rocks? Columbian Wyandottes? Light Brahmas?
It is a really pain getting older. My eye glasses keep getting stronger and stronger...gonna have to use coke bottle bottoms pretty soon. LOL But is so good to hear from you on the site.
I have, for once, be reading the post. No one on this site ever means or tries to be rude to anyone. Like Matt said, sometimes what we type and what our brain is thinking, it comes out in a totally different interpretation than what was meant. As a reader I have to read something several...
My cream legbars are kind of like that so I what I do is take a chair and sit in the pen for maybe 2-3 minutes with a small can of cracked corn. I use a certain call and toss a few kernels out for them and repeat that 3 or 4 times then slow get up and go about my way. At first they just run...
My main question, is where did you get your stock from? Getting good pictures is always hard. You just have to the the correct light, for them not to be pecking at the ground, and to get them to hold that perfect pose. Then comes the part of them being in that perfect feather condition...
Mckee Farms,
As it has been said it is really hard to tell with these pictures. First one is not bad. It does have some issues but that could be due to the angle of the picture etc. If the second picture does not look like the first rooster so if he same bird I am shocked. The second...
