It is very tasty! I also haven't baked in a while. I could really go for some banana bread, but I kinda think bananas are needed for that and we don't have any.
The tastes are usually good, but I can't help but wonder what all's in it. I've even recently been adamant about making the frosting as well, since there seems to be way too many ingredients in them too.
I don't see why it can't just be sugar, butter, and flavoring.
I shudder to think of what is put in a lot of things. I like to bake all my relative's cakes, cupcakes, or whatever they want for their birthday. We once bought some cupcakes at a store, and one of them stayed soft and not moldy for 3 months. Makes you wonder.
One of my first times making bread, I was actually upset that it was so dense and thick, unlike the store bought bread. I soon came to learn that mine is natural, and I have absolutely no clue how they make theirs.
I believe it is:
1 stick butter
2 cups granulated sugar
2/3 cup evaporated milk
1 bag any variety (your choice) chocolate chips
Combine butter, sugar, and evaporated milk in a pot. Heat at a high- medium heat, constantly stirring. Once it begins to boil, drop the temp to 130- 150 Fahrfenheit...
I've made fruitcake, bread, marble cakes, and banana bread since I last posted on here. Most of the recipes I cook by are from a 50s Better Homes and Gardens cookbook, and it hasn't disappointed yet!
You seem to be both a baker and a chef! And as a side note, don't judge food on what's on the outside because the inside is what really matters. There have been plenty of ugly cakes/cupcakes that I've made that tasted delicious.
Oh those cinnamon rolls look heavenly!
I made some pumpkin praline bars last night. They were pretty good, but I think they needed a little more filling.
