Vetricyn is good for cleansing. Triple antibiotic will thwart infection. You can used the in conjunction with each other, but definitely keep the wound moist with the triple antibiotic a couple times a day.

You might want to check out each of your hens. If fly eggs are that close to the egg, they may also be on her. If they start hatching, they will start eating whatever is near, including your hen. That is really bad. Search flystrike.

I hope you find all the answers. Epsom salts baths will go a long way to loosening the hard scab material. Keep it soft with plain (no pain killer) triple antibiotic ointment until it heals.
