The straw eventually gets eaten or just ground down and then we add more; the stemmy straw is best as it lasts much longer than the fine straw bales.

Ha!! We put down straw so they can walk on it and keep their feet off the extreme cold..we woke up to 5 degrees this a.m. and my girls are out there scratching away (I'm still in by the fire..better get to feeding). Happy Winter!

Hi, We have a mostly blind rooster who is also white (Maran x which is a dirty white color). He keeps eyes closed sometimes and gets around really well; he just can't roost at night so I put him in a dog crate for his safety. If she's eating and drinking, she is likely blind or partially blind...

A nice member asked that I post pics of my girls here at the Wicked Chicken... we've worked hard to develop a flock that produces lots and lots of color; clients love it and who doesn't enjoy a pretty dozen! Lots of breeds and most get along with each other well...there is the occasional...

You would laugh..we only have 2 1/4 acres..it's just that we laid it out well and even have some left over. Horses live down the road! :)

I just stopped working full time! It was too much...but I also run a travel trailer business spring to fall...someday need to just retire!
