Hey guys, thought you'd be interested in an update...
I've ended up taking her to the vet and apparently she's somehow broken her leg (I don't know whether it got caught or if the infection of the wound has spread and broken it). So she's been put on antibiotics and her leg has been cleaned...
UPDATE:
So it's been weeks and during then; twice a day I have been spraying the wound with saline solution and putting iodine on it. The wound has gotten larger and now has yellowish coat on it. I have absolutely no idea what to do. I'm beginning to think this may have to be the end of my...
Thanks so much to both of you for the advice.
I've managed to take pictures, so here they are:

Like I said, it is very gruesome. I'm wondering if I leave the creamy infection(?) stuff in the leg and hope it goes away or try to...

Help! My hen has been limping for a few days now so I decided to take a look at her leg. I eventually found (after removing the dirt), a massive & gruesome wound on her leg. Her spur was gone and beside it was this creamy-looking stuff in her leg [that I assume is infection]. I don't know...
Thank you so much GodOfPecking! :D
I have decided to switch to using honey instead of ointment :)
I am so glad to have asked as my chickens will be much safer and happier because of you!
Thank you!!!! :thumbsup
Also, a few other things I forgot to ask were:
1. How many times do I apply the ointment to the foot a day?
2. How long do I continue applying it for?
3. Do I just dab it on the outside of the foot, or do I put a bit in the actual hole-thing which is left after surgery?
Thanks, help is much...
Hello,
I am planning to do surgery on my chicken's feet seeing as she has bumblefoot. I have read other threads to use 'Neosporin' antibiotic after the surgery to help it heal and prevent infections. But, I live in Australia and the chemists said I need a doctor's prescription to get it.
I...
I love in Australia so there's heaps. There is a huntsman I have seen (and tried to kill, but it's way to scary) and Australian red backs (I think?) they are big black spiders, but there are heaps of little ones too
UPDATE:
Hey guys! So my pigeons chicken egg hatched last night (i think?). I have put water and instead of baby chicken food, I made the chicken pellets soggy and put them in containers.
I wasn't able to get a pic of the baby chicken, (but I did see it and it's so cute :D) because the mother...
Thanks guys.
I have decided to just keep feeding him soggy pellets and yoghurt etc
If it gets worse, I will just have to hand feed him
I collect my chickens eggs because i am wanting to get a bigger coop/pen, so when I do, I will probably have to separate him when I do or find someone who...
Thank you very much jak2002003 for so much information, (I loved the pics too)
Also, one of my pigeon nests is up high, (higher than my head). I have tried moving it to a bit lower area, but the pigeons just stay where the nest used to be and the I had to put it back.
And I will put food and...
