She just now laid a shell-less egg which she has done before.
So I’m guessing that was the problem because she’s back to normal. She has laid a few of these and I’ve given her oyster shell. Is there something else that I could do to prevent shell-less eggs?
My hen is walking like she has to lay an egg but she already laid an egg today and yesterday. What could be wrong? I even gloved up and felt around inside but there’s nothing. Could she be prolapsing?
Also want to add that she has started to crow in the mornings and sometimes will crow during...
This is Alice and these pictures were taken when she was 7 weeks old. She’s now about 20 weeks old.
For the longest time I thought she was a speckled polish because that’s what the bin said, but now as you can see she’s not.
Then I thought maybe she was a speckled Houdan, but her colorings...
Fruit everyday is fine. I feed my flock fruit scraps (watermellon and melon) almost everyday. I live in south texas and it’s so hot here too. I think when they say not to give treats on a regular basis, they probably mean storebought chicken treats and scratch. Fresh fruits and veggies everyday...
Hi everyone !
Long story short my non gmo & non soy feed I usually get for my flock is not going to be an option anymore.
I’m having such a tough time finding an alternative that’s not going to make me go broke or one that I’m going to have to order online.
I’d prefer to buy locally or at...
Yes it’s hot but I have lots of shade and my coop is super ventilated, I also have misters out in the run. I watched her eat a lot of food yesterday and drink fresh water that I put out with nutri drench in it. Unfortunately she passed sometime last night. 😢🥺
I gave her her first dose today. This evening while everyone was heading to bed I checked on her and she seems to be breathing rather fast. And her heart rate is also fast. I’m just praying she makes it through the night.
Thank you I’ll get a b complex today at the store. And yes she just started this about 3 days ago. But she also hasn’t been putting herself to bed and I find her on the coop ground at night when I lock everyone up.
I just went outside to test her and she did not blink at all but her pupils dilated a lot. If she is blind she still manages to find the food pan somehow. Any thoughts?
They have all day access to feed. I feed them Texas Natural Feed. I use the Non-gmo and Non-Soy layer feed.
I also put a 1/4 cup of Texas Naturals Scratch Grain for 17 chickens altogether as a “treat”. They also get Mellon scraps and watermellon scraps for treats weekly.
I purchased all of my...
I have a barred rock that is about 20 weeks old. She has developed this odd type of crouch walking. Looks like the equivalent of army crawling, but for chickens.
I thought maybe she was egg bound so I gloved up and put petroleum jelly on my finger and inserted it into the vent about two inches...
I haven’t tried elector psp before but I had a rescue chicken that had mites and garden & poultry dust with permethrin in it worked amazingly! It killed all the mites and the next day I didn’t see a single one! If the elector psp doesn’t work you can try the dust it’s like $10 at your local feed...
My flock has been going through dry pox for a few weeks now, most everyone is doing fine and nothing major but my second flock has been hit hard. They’re a little over 16 weeks old and their pox has come with large crusty boils around their beaks. It lookks so gross and I feel so bad because...
Thank you so much for all your help! I’ll probably just let it run it’s course and keep monitoring everyone closely. I’ve been applying terramyacin to the ones who have spots worse than others. But I’m so relieved to hear that my lils will be ok :)
More members of my flock are coming down with Dry Pox now :( including 3 of my 15 week old chickens
Are they going to be ok since they’re still so young?
