It rained unexpectedly so my gardening was abbreviated, but I did move my chives today and trimmed the tarragon. Got a few more pepper seedlings planted too, but still not finished there yet.
You’ve got cardinals eating yours? That was one species I haven’t seen eating it that I wish I could see, but mine’s a suet feeder, so that might make the difference. 🤔

Timing would have been too convenient, they visited once after the feed change and then I haven’t seen them since. (Also I haven’t heard of anyone poisoning birds around me, though I allow that may just be ignorance on my part.)
Have you tried safflower seeds? I had European Starlings at my suet feeder chasing off all the other birds. I switched over to safflower seed and they vanished shortly thereafter, but most of the rest of the birds were perfectly happy with it.
I found one of those at a garage sale over the weekend; a relative was looking for one so I grabbed it. Hopefully we’ll get to experiment with it some time this summer.

I had that happen last year and did some of both. I thinned out some of the easier to harvest ones and left the rest be. A few of them made it through the winter, we’ll see what happens. IIRC onions are biennials, so they might go to seed…but I’ve not had much luck with onions there before so...
