Three, broke one, found another, so four... but noticed one slightly covered with straw in a hard-to-reach location, five...broke it trying to get it.
So 5...3 made it to the egg tray. The one that was hidden might have been from yesterday.
Baby chicks got scrambled eggs for dinner.
Day 14. I saw dark areas but it's hard to candle with a flashlight, through brown eggs. With the eggs in the incubator I saw movement in one, and in another I saw feathers and a beak!
:fl
Two...no...three.
I collected two before 6pm. When I went out after dark to "candle" the eggs under Tamar one was completely clear! Then I noticed there wasn't a number written on it. Someone laid an egg while Tamar took a break!
I'm fine, thanks for your concern. The egg flipped out of my basket when I caught myself...inertia took over. Splat.
I gave it to the feral cats, and someone enjoyed it!
Two eggs so far today from seven hens, but one is raising chicks, one is actively brooding, and one is playing with the idea of being broody...only practicing it at night.
I have bantams, the eggs are small. I brought in a dozen for a coworker. Another coworker was interested in getting some until she saw the size of the eggs. Go figure.
Looks like a Rat snake, to me. Don't kill it, they eat other snakes including venomous snakes like Copperheads.
We have so many different types of snakes here, but they control mice, rats, shrews, etcetera, so I don't kill them. I don't kill any snakes except Copperheads, and only if they come...
