Thank you! Thanks! I think you're correct. All of the others he had looked like the same breed as well. I may have overestimated her size. Thank you! Yes, website is gscartwork.com. And I do poultry portraits for BYC members here...

Thanks! I didn't know they could be paper trained. I have decided not to keep her for multiple reasons, including concerns about avian viruses and the fact that I don't have a suitable enclosure for her. I'm not a fan of caged animals in the house. She is back home with her pigeon friends now.

Painted the pigeon (named her Pancake) in watercolor in my sketchbook today. Thanks for the idea! Her iridescent feathers were fun to capture!

I didn't think of that, but that's a great idea! The owner said, without me even asking, that I could keep her if I wanted. She might be back.... :D

Just talked to the owner and he admitted he didn't know a lot about pigeons. He was given this one for free and hasn't had it for very long. Anyway, she is going home tomorrow! 😌

We have likely found the owner of the pigeon and he is out of town at the moment. He called it a homing pigeon. I mean, I'm sure she can get back home from short distances, but do people do this with fancy pigeons? He said he recently started letting them out to fly.

Thank you so much! And congrats on your new rescue pijjy! I'm guessing because yours is a homer the owner didn't want it back? The one I caught is a fancy so I'd think the owner does want it. We'll see! Hopefully I can find the owners soon. She (I'm calling it a she because that's what I...

Thanks! I was thinking coccidiosis as well. Would that cause fast breathing? Been trying to decide if I should start her on Corid even though I might not have her by the end of the week. Do you know the dosage? I have handled her multiple times and haven't noticed mites yet. Still waiting...

Actually, her latest poop was quite green and she hasn't been eating anything green. Is this a bad sign?

Thanks! Yes, I figured the owner is not far. I don't know of anyone with pigeons around here though. I might post in the lost and found section on Craigslist.

Thank you! Her droppings are greenish-gray, not lime or dark green. I noticed she is also breathing kind of heavily. Not mouth-breathing, but her body moves a lot when she takes a breath. Doesn't look normal. But I don't see any nasal or eye discharge and she's not wheezing or sneezing.

Is this okay to feed a pigeon temporarily? Maybe with some popcorn and brown rice added? https://www.walmart.com/ip/Wild-Harvest-Parakeet-Canary-Finch-Daily-Nutrition-Blend-5-lb/10318459?

I don't know a lot about pigeons but I'd say it's on the smaller side. I thought it looked like a tumbler.
