Snakes sure get everywhere! Their main food on the menu is mice, which of course go hand in hand with poultry. But if course eggs and chicks will do if no mice are around!
SNAKES!!!
Larger snakes will eat chicks and eggs. These tiny things that were getting in my run aren't anything more than a nuisance. But it just brought to my attention that baby Rattlers can also get in and baby Rattlers are worse than adults when it comes to venom. I've never had this trouble in all...
Several baby Garter snakes got into the run and coop over the past month, slipping through 1/2 inch hardware cloth. I'm getting 1/4 inch cloth this week and will cover 2 foot high up the run to prevent this from happening again, especially to keep out rattlers.
Oh you poor dear! :hugs You are too young to be blind! :hugs
@penny1960 maybe you might consider "audio" Kindle, mine comes this way too, I've never used it however. Thanks for reminding us Sue! :)
Yes I've heard Bull snakes eat baby Rattlers, hence I love that I have a 6 ft Bull snake living in my garden.
Thanks for all your great info on snakes! :)
 You and I are the same age. :old :gig
You don't need a Kindle, you can download the Kindle app for free in the Playstore, puts Kindle in any device. I have it in my phone and a Nexus tablet.
I always get freaked out seeing snakes, even the nonvenomous kind. :barnie  For me it startles me, I'm going along not thinking about snakes and then there it is, you are about to step on it!
Big snakes make good mousers. We've got a Bull snake that lives in a rotten railroad tie in the garden. The thing is 6 foot long, about 2 inches thick. He keeps the mice down big time in the yard! Scares the heebie jeebies out of me though if I come around a corner and its laying there sunning...
