I will. I was not expecting that many clears. I autopsied 6 of the clears at day 10. They appeared to be scrambled. :idunno
With that many clears it’s also hard for me to say if I did anything wrong to cause the other 6 not to develop properly.
I may also get some eggs from James Marie...
So my 1st incubation is complete. I set 45 Myshire Jumbo Mix. I gave the other 15 to my ex-wife to hatch.
45 set
22 clears
17 hatched
5 died sometime after developing
1 died just after it hatched
So that’s 70.8% for the eggs that started to develop.
I don’t think that’s to bad for my first...
I’m using the ceramic 100w for the first time. It produces more even heat than a red bulb. I already like it better. I need to research and find a heat sensor that will alarm when the temp lowers below a certain point. If I find one I doubt I’ll ever use another glass bulb. I’ll just keep a...
I candled my eggs just now on day 10. I pulled 9 clears, two of which were cracked. I left in another 6 that are “most likely nots”. That leaves 30 that could hopefully hatch.
Waiting for these quail eggs to hatch is worse than waiting for a chicken to lay it's first egg!

I'm trying the dry hatch. There are so many opinions on humidity I don't know what's best. This is what I chose to do first.
I gave 15 eggs to my ex wife to hatch and she is running her humidity between 35-40%. We'll compare results afterwards.
Thanks. These are my current readings on the Govee in the center of the bator (the hottest part). It's only bumped 100.3 briefly a few times and my averages are where I want them. So I think I'm safe. Unless my bator has a serious malfunction I can't see I'll come anywhere close to 103°.
That would add up to A LOT of 3’x4’ cages if I want to keep 48 bird's max. I'll have four 3’x4’ cages, I'll let the quail tell me how many should be in there. I won't know till they hatch how many of what I have. Zach said he was sending Wild, White Wing, White and Egyptian. Who knows what...
