Thanks Fluffy! :hugs I worry over my babies and thats just how it is! :D I did some reading on line that sometimes it can take a couple of weeks to get newly shipped and planted Lithops to absorb the necessary water needed. I think it said to water thoroughly once a week until they are...
Maybe mine just need time to heal from shipping and planting? Being in a box for 6 days caused some dormancy? Yesterday morning they had wrinkled quite a bit over night but today not so much, they don't look worse. So maybe they are starting to take in water. I hope I can keep these babies alive!
I watered the Lithops yesterday morning, I drenched them down good, they were pretty wrinkly. I can't tell if they are absorbing the water? How long does it take for them to swell up again to full size?
Excellent video! I have heard both good and bad about misting, I do it only to a tiger fern plant and judging from this video, I am going to stop. Good grief, its a wonder anything grows around here, our humidity can be 9% for long periods of time! I desperately need this person to move in here...
I kind of like the wild look, sorta matches my personality. 🤣 Plus, in the wild, this is exactly how it would grow. I don't want to disturb it unless absolutely necessary I think.
I need to get brave and divide this plant. :p He's pretty grown together, it was one big tight mass while repotting. 😂 But I think you are right, next step is division! 😱
Thanks! I cleaned off all the dirt and while its got some long thick roots, its really a shallow grower. I think this pot will serve him another couple of years, I hope. If he gets too much bigger, I will need to cut down a big drum to plant him in. 🤣
I just repotted this monster. This Haworthia was given to me 4 years ago, it had been neglected with no light, no water for over 2 months, it had dead leaves and looked pretty bad. It was only 1 plant (the tall one in the back is the original plant) and had one baby growing out of the side. But...
Im sure he knows we are talking about him in his shipping box, poor plant! 🤣 I think I will name him Angel because I just know he's going to be one. 😇 ♥️
Wild prickly pears are SO resilient. We had to have our electric utility pole replaced last year because it was ready to crack in half. There was a quite large growth of prickly pears beneath the old pole but unfortunately the construction and digging decimated the plant. I was sure it was gone...
Gotta love those wild Prickly Pears! Glad yours is doing so well. I ordered a plant on line that has "furry spikes" the kind that are nearly invisible. So the running joke is its going to stick me like crazy when I go to plant it. 🤣
Repotting is a lot of work but it is rewarding for all involved! I repotted some cactus a few days ago, adding perlite and stones to their soil. The store bought succulent/cactus soil is way too organic, plants were staying wet too long. I hope I didn't hurt them, one refused to come out if his...
