To bad he’s a stinker. He’s such a pretty boy. I have some people wanting roosters. How soon can you tell if there going to have the three spike comb? A lot have nice ones but some have one or two spikes. Do they change any after two month?

I have 4 roosters and 4 hens showing nice triple combs. I’m hoping a couple more get better at 8 weeks. Got a lot showing promise for type. I want some Barbu de boitsfort. cute

😆I usually get surrounded by the roosters first. They have started scuffing with each other now at 8 week old. I may get some stinkers.

Thanks. Thats why I didn’t see it when I put in watermael. I’ve noticed that the ones started in the US use both spellings.

Looking at Belgian show standards. The d’anver are broad at shoulders and thick set. The watermael are broad at the shoulders and get slimmer as the go back. The d’anver chest is high. The watermael is more forward. The watermael tail is lower. I like this diagram that shows the difference

You can definitely see the d’anver colors in the watermael and the spunky personality. Do you have pictures of your blue quail d’anver? Most blue ones I’ve seen are with the red being more yellow color and the tail and wing feathers are blue.
