I'll take it off the carder at some point before Monday, and will ask my grandmother or mother to spin it so they can tell me if it would be something worth buying as a customer to spin or if it's too hard to spin
One of my jobs ended today, so I was able to maybe do a batt earlier.
Not in love with it, if it works out, I don't think I'll do more tbh. It just was rather difficult to do.
Here's a hint
I haven't spun it, but I used it in a fair amount of the Batts I had for sale. I need to make a blending board so I can make rolags to spin from. The fiber is too short for me to just spin clump by clump like most people like to.
Nah, go ahead. I like most of those breeds, so I won't complain about a pic or three 😆
Yeah. And soft or coarse doesn't mean easy and hard right off the batt (haha). I got some Devon (very corse, very long) and it was very hard until I figured out the trick of getting the roving the size I want...
Cats are real bad about that.
Silk is tricky. I've added some into my stuff for spinning, but most of the time I add it into my sale Batts because it's a more expensive add in that catches people's eyes
Okay. Try merino. It's usually decently cheap, and I have a easy time with that one
I'd reccomend etsy. You can search 'wool batt' and filter by price.
What fiber are you spinning? Some is very difficult, while others are easier.
I recommend buying a cheap batt once you're more comfortable spinning and just trying it.
I personally have a harder time, but it seems to just be a matter of preference for most people. It's easier for me to tear the braids into strips the size I need, and the fibers are a bit more aligned (they are a bit more combined on the sides in Batts so that it stays together, where in...
Here's some of what I got. This was Friday's haul. The scarf is supposedly cashmere, but even if it's not, it's so soft and warms up nice and fast. It's also long enough to use as a head wrap, which I love.
The tricolor braids will be spun up and used for a slouchy hat that is going to be...
Counting gross sales and table cost, I sold more than I spent. Net income, I spent a bit more (but not as much as I thought) than I made.
But considering I generally spend around that amount at each sale, I'll consider that a great win.
Left a few minutes ago. Brain is tired and shoulder is sore. Mom sold a braid, bit other than that, I was the only one of the pair that sold anything this weekend.
Noticed that most places didn't sell a lot of 'pre yarn' material though here, it was mostly yarn and finished products that were...
