Very cool, Dennis, thanks for the info! I’m kind of wondering if any of your birds’ fly-tie DNA snuck into that bantam Silkie/Cochin group you gave me. The rooster especially is something special, and the one hen’s strange coloring (very like Mille Fleur) is a bit of a mystery. They are so fun...
It might not be mycoplasma, then, as they have never responded to Denegard and I have tried multiple times. Thanks for the info, @dheltzel , I’m just going to enjoy the birds I have while I have them and someday when they’re gone I’ll figure out something.🙂
I’m so sorry. It sounds like what I have been struggling with in my flock since day 1, which I have always suspected was mycoplasma, but I can’t afford necropsy to be sure. Likely it came from their feed. I’m down to 25 chickens from 50 and have stopped buying or hatching any more. Sadly my...
@Lelanae do you still need Corid? I have some you can have, you’re still in Kennett Square, right? I’m in Oxford. I got mine at Tractor Supply, it was a fairly small quantity. If you still need it, let me know and I’ll dig it out😘
Hmm…I wonder how Naked Necks would fare in my flock. I’m not overfond of their look, but I didn’t know they had strong immune systems. That and their heavy meaty frames might overcome the weird factor, IF I can find good ones. Praying now…:fl
I swear they talk too. Once at the Plumpton Park Zoo in Maryland, a peacock called out to me “Come back!” clear as a bell while I was heading back to my car! Shocked the hell out of me!! (Yes I’m CERTAIN it was the peacock!)
I can attest to the peacocks being , well, unneighborly-sounding. Folks a half-mile away from us had them until recently. Growing up here, it freaked me out a little as a kid, always sounded like little children crying for help, especially at 3am!!
:welcome Howdy neighbor! Welcome from Lincoln University area, PA (southern Chester County, 5 miles east of Oxford). I live right next to the college, whereabouts are you? I’m afraid I don’t know of any upcoming shows in the area, but if you find somewhere to get nice Jersey Giants, please let...
I feel very blessed to live on top of a hill, no flooding here, though the lightning gets frightfully close. I am deathly afraid of tornadoes after having one land on my head some years ago, so reading today of the many tornadoes here in Chester County really frightened me. It was remarkably...
