The move to Texas was because of work. I couldn't find anything in KC and there were any other remote jobs available. Besides, this opportunity was too good to pass up! I haven't brewed in a while, but once we are settled that is my first order of business.

Hey there fellow Kansas peeps! I am moving to Texas in a few days and I am not taking my coop with me. So, it is free to a good home! It is 4'x8' and I can take some pics and post. The only stipulation is that you can to come get it. I am in the Olathe area off of K-10 and Woodland. Reply here...

Danz - I hear ya! I am up to my eyes in busy! Seems like there has been a long list of honey do's that I have been working on getting through. The good news is I think I am finally through with them. In my spare time I have been working on the garden and my hops. I managed to lose my zucchini...

Hi everyone! Seriously long time no type on my part! Life has kept me busy. It seems like the older my kiddos get the busier my wife and I get. All is well with us and the kids are really enjoying school these days. In other news, it is time to start weeding out my non-layers in my flock...

Morning everyone! I just wanted to put a shout out that if anyone needs to get rid of a rooster or three, my neighbor is in need of some. Breed doesn't matter, she is in it for the eggs. The coyotes have been rather thick around our area in the last year and she has lost all but one rooster...

Genetics are funny like that. My grandfather and I don't speak much, but I am told by several family members that our mannerisms and ways of speaking are identical. In fact there was a photo of him taken when he was 21. So I left it out on the mantle when we had various gatherings and people...

Did you get those Sussex from Karen? Mine are the friendliest birds too. They follow me every where in the yard and give me the status report from the coop.

OkieQueenBee: Thanks for the advice on the DE and how much to use. As soon as I added some to the feed the little critters disappeared! I have also been sprinkling it in the areas that were previously affected by the little buggers. So far so good! I will keep you posted.

Zigzag, Don't worry they will eventually figure out where to lay eggs. Mine did and it is just a matter of time. Also, I noted that it took most of my young hens until about 20 weeks before I saw the first egg from them. I agree with the webcam! I need to get one in my coop as well.

Hi everyone! Long time no post. I have been busy as usual. Kids keep growing chickens keep growing. We added a MaltyPoo rescue puppy to the mix in May. Overall life is good. I hope that everyone is doing well. About two nights ago I noticed white flecks on my feed bin (50 gallon rubbermaid...

I hope my peeps in the Wichita area are all ok from the storms last night! For all the worry the NWS had for us the storms amounted to nothing more than a normal thunder storm with a lot of rain. I don't mind the rain at all. In fact, bring it on we need it! I did manage to get the 4x8 raise...

Lizzy - I would totally go to your bank and get that exchanged! The exchange rate is in the favor of the Euro these days. The last time I checked it was about $1.30 to 1 Euro. So you actually have a bit more than $5 there! Nice find.

Quote: I hear ya there! My yard is starting to look like a jungle. I officially have almost 2' tall tomato plants on my kitchen table that I can't put outside until these freezes stop. I wish Mother Nature would figure it out!
