    INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Used to be way more active, though! I can remember having pages and pages to read through here if I was gone for an hour or two! :th It is nice seeing more posts here again. 🙂

    INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

I (finally) have a ton of Cochin eggs developing in the incubator and under broodies at the moment, not sure if I should be adding any more 😬 But thanks for the offer! Gorgeous birds, everyone! :love The one goose's face in that first gosling picture had me laughing out loud 🤭

    INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Welcome! :frow It has been pretty quiet here for some years now. Unfortunately, I don't know of anyone in your area with Australorps, but good luck in your search! Welcome to you, too! :frow Lovely birds! I need your Orps to give my Cochins a pep talk or something--I'm still waiting on mine to...

Love her!! 😍 That's a breed I've always really wanted but just haven't had the right opportunity to get yet.

Sorry you lost one! Love those colors, though! :love Speaking of Cochins, I finally, finally, finally hatched some Splashes out of my silkieds!! :yesss: Been trying for years to get my hands on some silkied Splashes!

I have BBS, but the ones I have available are mostly Blacks and a few Blues. Solid Black and Blue, I should add, not Partridge! Mine are bantams, too, and silkie-feathered.

Inara is so fabulous, isn't she? :love Very excited to see what her babies look like! Her first ones are due in 2 weeks. And Pete appreciates the recognition as a hunk, too, I'm sure. You know how roosters are  Ah, I know you said you like the adults more, but one more--little one...

    INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Oh, that you don't have to worry about! I just built an additional pen last month so that I could split my Cochins up into three breeding groups to keep them rotationally, as that setup is supposed to allow them to be bred for a long time without needing to outcross for genetic diversity. I had...

    INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Thanks for your insight! I did finally get up the nerve to list them on CL just this morning. They're getting too big, taking up too much space, and they've just got to go. 😩 And I figured selling them before it's apparent how many are male or female is easier than trying to sell the males later...

    INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Since y'all are kind of on the topic, those of you who sell hatchlings, do the people who buy them from CL and other sales sites usually seem pretty sound and everything? I have silkied Cochin bantam chicks that I need to sell, but I'm a little afraid to list them outside of BYC... I guess I...

    INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Not all of mine yet, but I'm down to 3-4 a day out of 48 hens. :th My Easter hatch naked neck pullet getting close to laying, though! The rest of the pullets this year are my silkied Cochin bantams so, based on past experience with them, I'll be lucky if I see eggs from any of them before new...

Love them, excellent! :clap Just what I needed to cheer me up after dealing with the nasty weather outside this morning!

    INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

We did! It started off as rain and sleet, then turned to wet snow and just kept coming down. :th I'm snuggled in my comforter in bed warming up now, but it was still snowing ~30 minutes ago before I laid down.

Anyone else getting this crazy snow? We're at 2 inches and it's still coming down, wet and sticky snow that's clinging to the trees. It almost sounds like a light thunderstorm in the woods because of snow weighing down branches until every now and then they CRACK snap off suddenly! :th

    INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Love it!! Please share some of your chicken jokes! I'm always looking for more material to get my niece and nephew to groan and roll their eyes :pop

    INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

If anyone up north is interested, I've listed a few of my extra silkied Cochin bantam boys in the BST area. 🙂 Will be putting them up on craigslist when they're a little older (because, I don't know, I feel like the general BYCer is better equipped to handle younger cockerels than the general...

    INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

:frow Good to see you posting again, Hoosiercheetah! Sorry about your losses and mouse difficulties, but it sounds like you have a lovely flock! As far as the mouse issue, all I can suggest is to pick the chicken feed up at night. The chickens won't be eating at night anyway, so it doesn't need...

Sounds like a fun assortment! If you have any pictures of straight run chicks, I might be able to help you on breeds, unless they're mixes of course. 🙂
