I lived in Richmond for many of my formative early adult years. Like right in the city where the temps in summer were the same at night as they were during the day! I also lived outside of Richmond in Chesterfield County. Big difference, even though close mileage wise. Good luck with your coop...

First, welcome fellow Virginian! Second, zoning. Best to check out zoning and any requirements concerning placement of a coop for backyard chickens. Are you within city limits? Even some counties have restrictions/limits. Better to get those issues addressed if there are any before getting...

Wish I could help, but don't have enough experience with roos. How old is he? If he's still young, perhaps his hormones have gotten the better of him and he'll settle as he gets older. I would post under another thread to get the take from more experienced ppl. Maybe chicken behaviors, or one...

Here, in the valley, we didn't get too much rain or wind. What we did get was a relief from the stagnant air, heat, and humidity. It was a welcomed, much needed relief. Glad you also fared well.

I've also got a mixed flock which includes 3 EEs. I call them my bearded ladies, aka Frankie, Johnie, & Paulie. They have been a lot of fun, but they take their name too seriously. Always hiding their eggs. Last yr it was under the coop, which I've since blocked. Then last week they buried a...
