a little piece of styrofoam, about as big as a floor tile maybe a half of one, and flat as one, was found in the coop, it had peck wholes in it.. will this harm my chickens?

Naw, it goes right through them. My dh left sheets of foam insulation outside, putting it away was on his "to do" list, well the flock found it and now it looks like swiss cheese.

But all the birds are fine. They just love styrofoam. I've heard about a flock devouring a styrofoam cooler but nobody got sick.

I know of ppl who have had birds die from excessive eating of styrofoam (given to them based on this "misinformation)...please keep styrofoam away from your birds...use greens wrapped in chicken wire...melon or other fruits to pick at and not styrofoam...

excessive eating of anything is harmful, 30 years with all types of fowl and I've seen grass clippings do more harm than styrofoam. study done 4 years ago at the poultry lab in Tifton Ga showed that birds fed styrofoam in moderation decreased cannibalism by 75%
