They're black Australorp...or are they?!?!

I have both Astrolorp and Jersey giants! For the longest time I couldn’t tell the difference. Now that they r grown it’s easy to tell. The jerseys are obviously a little bigger than the rest of my ladies. Also there feathers have a beautiful greenish, purple hue when they are in the sunlight, kind of like how oil looks in water….The Astroplorps are just plain, boring black feathers.

I got two Black australorps from TSC on March 23rd. They were about 1.5 weeks old. They did have some white on them like your chicks. They are mostly black now, but still have a white feather or two on their wings. I read black australorp will have that until they fully mature. I attached a picture of one of my chicks, Aunt Edna, as a 1.5 week old chick and one pic from yesterday,. Hope this is helpful!
