5.5 weeks thinking one cockerel the rest pullets!

I’m sticking with 3 hens 1 cockerel as my final answer😂 they’re almost 7 weeks and the cockerel is SO obvious but the others seem like hens to me

5.5 weeks thinking one cockerel the rest pullets!

They’re going outside full-time this week! Am I correct in assuming just the barred one is a cockerel? Everyone else pullets? Is it still too early to be sure?? I feel like the barred one is super obvious😅

Posting again now that they’re a bit older!

They have so many feathers and will be moving outside next week at 6 weeks old! I’ll be keeping them in the dog crate they are in now but putting it in the coop so they can get used to their new flock before being set loose with them! Excuse the black hen in the pictures, that’s coco and she...

Posting again now that they’re a bit older!

The RIR that wasn’t sus has little waddles coming in. I definitely think the barred one is a cockerel since the comb is red. The only one I’m sure is a pullet at this point is the egger with the little mo hawk! I’m really hoping she has at least one buddy😩 or my older hens accept her easily

Why does a chicken make gagging movements with mouth?

I had a chicken doing this CONSTANTLY and it turned out she had an impacted crop. It wasn’t bad and I caught it early so I was able to bring her inside with just water and grit, no food and hand feed her some coconut oil. I gave it to her 3 times a day a massaged her crop 3-4 times a day and by...

Yeah they both look so similar to me so that’s confusing me. I will say they are both friendlier and more outgoing than the eggers. The egger I think is a cockerel is the most skittish out of them all though.

She’s doing great!! Is it the barred and the yellow faced RIR in the last pic?

They haven’t been outside in days since it’s been pouring and the run is so wet!! I’ve got to clean their brooder today while I guess they free roam the room😅😅 The 2 RIR look the same to me and both have small combs. I can only still tell them apart from their baby feather color but once they...

    Chicks first time outside!

I carry mine in a cardboard box from the house to the yard😅 It works well for now!! Soon they will be too big for the box though! Hopefully in a couple weeks though they will be outside full time

    Chicks first time outside!

It’s just a wire dog pen! I used this the first few times when I was out there with them so the older chickens can see them but not interact! Now they are in an actual run still separated from the older hens! But the dog pen worked really well for those first few times out!

    Toys and enrichment?

My girls favorite things are frozen melons. Cantaloupe, watermelon etc. give them something to do and they get a snack. Toys have been ignored by mine. You can also fill up a container of water and put some frozen berries in and have them fish for them. I’ve also flipped up rocks for my girls...

What did you do with your flock today?

The chicks spent some time in the run while the Polish hens were in their coop so they can get used to each other before the littles move outside full time!

    Wonder code for fleas

Wondercide isn’t safe for birds so I wouldn’t use it on a Turkey. I use it on my dogs and am careful they stay away from my chickens the day I spray them

It’s not even the comb it’s the tiny little pink wattles, the others don’t have them visible yet😅 this is my favorite one so I’m nervous lol
