My 5 Black Australorps (BA) are not laying eggs, despite being 7 month old. I'm from France (so Nothern hemisphere).
One of them actually started to lay eggs one month ago (so she was 6 month old). But not anymore, so I have zero egg now.
I raised them from fertilized eggs thanks...
Hello everyone, I wonder if it was possible to determine if baby chick is male or female, given that only the mother is cream legbar (the father is Marans). Here are pictures (they are 2 or 3 days old only...)
I have 6 baby chicks, all black australorps. They are raised by a Silkie. Even if 4 weeks old is probably a little bit too early, I think there are still some way to know if one chick is hen or roo. Thanks all for your help! David.
Specialist means raising and selecting Australorps for many years. As if they don't clearly appear now, it seems that they shouldn't be shaped like that.
An Australorp specialist told me it was a cockerel, and he was sure about it. If it were a pullet, the saddle feathers would stop immediately and be rounded. Here, they are quite long, and pointed down to the ground, which is a particularity of a cockerel.
