One of the hens in my flying section was busy! I love the look of the stick nest. Also my daughter was born today and we went with the name Birdie so I figured it would be fitting to share here
Two of my nests each had one squab the 31st and each had a second on the 1st! Here is a pic of one nest, the other is my red grizzle which I got some great colors out of last year so cant wait to see what they produce
I was thinking about doing something similar but all the wild bird seed mixes have cracked corn and was always told to watch out for it because it could cause sour crop?
What brand/price is everyone paying for pigeon feed? I have been buying browns for the most part and it was always expensive but it is what is closest to me and a much higher quality than the others I tried. I just went to pick up a few bags yesterday though and they went up to $37.99 which...
Was supposed to be lower. The screen door part would really only be for the summer but hoping it would fix some of the rain because it would be on the side of my garage and if I removed the lower part permanently it should stop the snow in winter also. I will probably have to play around with a...
After moving to my new house and relocating the loft I have have had nothing but issues. After the last snow/windstorm I find that my covers for my front ventilation are not sufficient. What are people’s thoughts if I removed the lower ventilation completely and added a screen door instead of my...
So me and my sons went to our first club meeting lastnight. Very relaxed and they each won something in the door prizes, 3 pigeons, a 50lb bag of feed and a 10lb bag of shelled peanuts! They also have a loaner loft program and my boys wanted their own so they dropped off a new 4x4x6 loft today...
No access to electricity, hoping to get to that next year but figured this was the next best thing. They are almost 4 inches deep and haven’t had one empty by the time it has froze so they are working decently
At my previous house I had setup a utility sink in the basement so I could bring waterers in overnight during the winter. The new house I don’t have the same setup and my wife wasn’t happy with them just on the basement floor so I bought some 2 gallon pales from Home Depot and made some that I...
Local fair had a flying club that put on a display and had some raffles for birds. Two of my sons ended up winning so here we are with 6 more yb and a new basket one of their members made and donated! Three blue checks, a blue bar with some brown tinting, a red and a beautiful grizzle!
Was finally able to get the aviary back on after the move so my old birds could get a litte outside time. Got the yb flying a little bit, so that’s a start and will most likely try letting the old ones out once the yb start routing.
The yb are just over 2 months. They had never flown as I hatched them at the new property. I haven’t been able to flag as they will sit on the top of our house and or garage once I get them off the loft roof. I had heard maybe a tennis ball?
