Just a little update. No more survived 😢 just Big Don so he’s off to a new home with other ducks the same age tomorrow. Thanks for all your help and advice over the last month x
Another week on and still no hatch 😢 there is no ‘big movements in the eggs, but when I candle them, I can see ‘pulsing’ and little shadow movements. Does this mean they are still ok? We are now on day 28 in the incubator
Evening/morning all!
I’ve just brought Donny back inside after being in his outdoor run and he has a cut on his beak 😭
I assume he’s done this on the chicken wire (I will be changing this tomorrow)
Will he heal ok? Is there anything I should be doing to help?
Thanks in advance x
Definitely moving and growing. The air sacs have grown slightly. No smells. They have now been in the incubator for 22 days so I’m thinking it’s got to be any day now 🤞
Good morning.
Unbelievably, these eggs are still going. I’ve checked this morning tho and found this (picture included). I too. The egg out, wiped it and there’s no crack and the duckling is still moving?!? What the heck is going on 🫣😅
I think we must of disturbed whatever was happening, mumma duck was only recently gone, and 5 of the 11 eggs were broken. One of the broken eggs still had a little live duckling in but it died not long after so I assume it was a very recent kill 😢😢
I’ll carry on with the incubation for a little while then and candle every so often.
Donny’s currently on chick crumbs, I read they should be on this for the first couple of weeks?
He has 2 little mirrors and some cuddly toys and a little snuggly blanket in with him, he love cuddling up with...
Thank you so much for you reply and advice!
I’ll try lowering the humidity a little and leave them a while longer. Is it ok to candle them every day to keep a check or better to just leave them be? I’d hate for one to be in trouble and lose them. Little Dewey was 3/4 unzipped when I lost him 😢...
